Full job description

Due to an expanding pipeline of new developments, we are now recruiting for a further Housing Contracts Manager to join our team.

This a senior operational role and is required to provide leadership, direction and management oversight to Site Managers and construction teams, ensuring developments are delivered safely, efficiently and to the required programme, quality and commercial standards.

To do this, the successful candidate will require a strong understanding of mid to large volume housebuilding, excellent leadership skills and the ability to manage multiple developments and teams simultaneously.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage multiple residential developments, providing clear direction and support to Site Managers and wider construction teams.
  • Produce and chair monthly updates to Board Members and Shareholders.
  • Take overall responsibility for build programmes, ensuring key milestones and completion targets are achieved.
  • Monitor construction progress, identifying potential delays and implementing effective recovery strategies where required.
  • Ensure all construction activities are undertaken safely and in accordance with company procedures, legislation and Health & Safety requirements.
  • Develop a high-performing construction culture through effective leadership, coaching, mentoring and performance management.
  • Regularly inspect developments and ensure construction standards, workmanship and site presentation are maintained.
  • Maintain strong knowledge of NHBC, LABC, Premier or equivalent technical and construction standards.
  • Work closely with the Commercial team to manage costs, variations, resources and commercial performance.
  • Identify opportunities to improve build methods, sequencing, productivity and cost efficiency.
  • Work collaboratively with Commercial, Technical, Sales, Customer Care and other departments to ensure developments progress effectively.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, ensuring adequate resources are available to meet programme requirements.
  • Support the recruitment, development and retention of site-based employees and provide effective coaching and performance management.
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting of programme, build progress, risks, resource requirements and performance.
  • Take ownership of construction-related issues and ensure timely resolution.
  • Promote a collaborative approach between site teams, subcontractors and the wider business.
  • Ensure customer-focused construction practices are embedded throughout the build process and that completed homes meet the required quality and customer care standards.

We recognise that our people are fundamental to the success of our developments and offer a competitive package, including:

  • Competitive salary
  • Company car or car allowance
  • Mileage expenses
  • Pension scheme
  • Employee benefits and discount platform
  • Competitive holiday entitlement
  • Opportunities for professional development and career progression

This is an opportunity for an experienced Contracts Manager to play a key role in the delivery and performance of a longstanding, growing, multi-diverse contractor.

If you are an experienced housebuilding professional who enjoys leading teams, delivering challenging programmes and maintaining high standards across multiple developments, we would like to hear from you.
