Based in the beautiful Beamish countryside in the North East of England, Aston Workshop Ltd is one of the world's leading Aston Martin specialists. For over 40 years we have restored, maintained, engineered and sold some of the finest Aston Martins ever built. Today we employ over 40 specialist staff across restoration, engineering, bodywork, paint, trim and sales.

Our engineering department is central to everything we do. Alongside restoring original Aston Martin engines, we also design and develop our own high-performance engine programmes, combining traditional craftsmanship with modern engineering techniques, CAD, simulation and in-house dyno development.

The Role

As an Engine Builder, you will be responsible for the complete assembly, rebuilding, diagnosis and development of a wide variety of Aston Martin powertrains, ranging from historic six-cylinder engines through to modern V8 and V12 units.

Every engine is built with meticulous attention to detail, documented throughout the build process and tested to ensure it meets the exceptionally high standards our customers expect.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Complete engine strip-down, inspection and fault diagnosis.
• Preparation, machining coordination and assembly of new and rebuilt performance engines.
• Engine rebuilding, maintenance and repair.
• Precision measurement and inspection of engine components.
• Recording build specifications, clearances and assembly data.
• Testing and verification of engine components using specialist measuring equipment.
• Supporting engine development, testing and tuning activities.
• Working with both carburettor and modern fuel-injected engine management systems.
• Assisting with engine dynamometer testing and validation.
• Maintaining a clean, organised and safe workshop environment.
• Delivering workmanship of the highest possible standard.

Skills & Experience

The successful applicant will ideally have:

• A minimum of five years' experience building or rebuilding high-performance engines.
• A proven track record within a professional engine reconditioning, motorsport or performance engine environment.
• Excellent mechanical knowledge and diagnostic ability.
• Experience measuring engine components using precision engineering equipment.
• The ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
• Excellent organisational skills with the ability to record build information accurately.
• Pride in producing work of exceptional quality.
• The ability to work both independently and as part of a skilled engineering team.
• Good communication skills and a positive, enthusiastic attitude.

The following would also be advantageous:

• Experience using engine dynamometers.
• Experience with classic or performance vehicles.
• Experience with fuel injection and engine management systems.
• Machine shop or precision engineering experience.
• HNC, HND or Degree in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering (desirable but not essential).
