Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Joiner to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for constructing, installing, and repairing structures and fixtures made from wood, metal, and other materials. This role requires a strong understanding of carpentry techniques, mechanical knowledge, and the ability to work safely in various environments. The position offers an opportunity to work on diverse projects, from residential to commercial sites, contributing to high-quality craftsmanship and customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Reading and interpreting technical drawings, plans, and specifications to determine project requirements.
- Cutting, shaping, and assembling materials using hand tools, power tools, and specialised equipment.
- Installing fixtures such as doors, windows, flooring, cabinetry, and roofing components with precision.
- Performing repairs and maintenance on existing structures or fixtures as needed.
- Ensuring all work complies with safety standards and building regulations.
- Heavy lifting of materials and equipment to facilitate construction activities.
- Collaborating with other tradespeople such as masons, roofers, and electricians to complete projects efficiently.
- Maintaining a clean and organised workspace to promote safety and productivity.
Skills
- Proficiency in using hand tools (saws, chisels, hammers) and power tools (drills, sanders).
- Strong welding skills for metalwork components when required.
- Mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot equipment or structural issues effectively.
- Expertise in carpentry techniques including framing, fitting, and finishing.
- Experience with roofing installation or repairs is advantageous.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently during construction tasks.
- Knowledge of masonry work can be beneficial for specialised projects.
- Commercial driving skills are desirable for transporting materials between sites.
