Position: Children's Home OFSTED Registered Manager

Location: Nottinghamshire (Managing 2 Solo Children’s Homes)

Salary: £50,000.00 to £60,000.00 per year, DOE

Accountable to: Head of Operations

Responsible for: Residential Support Workers & Seniors Residential Support Workers

Hours of Work: 40 hours per week

What We Are Looking For:

  • Experience: Previously held OFSTED registration, managed children's homes with good-outstanding OFSTED inspection reports.
  • Skills: Ability to run children’s homes with a firm but fair approach. Passionate about high-quality care for young people and staff development.
  • Qualifications: Experience in fit persons interviews and confident in managing 2 Solo Children’s Homes. Knowledgeable in Children's Act, OFSTED regulations, staff recruitment and management, compliance and safeguarding, Reg 44s and OFSTED inspections, and Therapeutic practice.

About the Role:

You will manage a Solo Children’s Home with one young person (aged 6 to 18, but currently our young people are typically 11 to 16) to and a staff team of six, providing 2:1 staffing daily. Supported by an experienced Responsible Individual, you will care for children and young people with Emotional Behavioural Difficulties using Therapeutic approaches such as PACE. Your role is to lead by example, setting high standards for both staff and young people, with the opportunity to model the service around your personality and practice methods.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing 2 solo EBD/complex residential Children’s Homes.
  • Engaging with children, setting examples, and building excellent rapport.
  • Leading and supporting a team of skilled staff, ensuring high training standards.
  • Providing emotional support.
  • Writing care plans, organizing referrals and matching, managing staff, and liaising with social workers and families.
  • Understanding and implementing safeguarding processes and policies.
  • Maintaining records of support and focusing on positive outcomes for the children.
  • De-escalating challenging behavior.
  • Working within a team and delegating tasks.


  • Caring and open-minded nature, willing to work on-call.
  • Understanding that the role sometimes extends beyond a 9-5 schedule.
  • Experience with EBD and ACEs.
  • At least 2 years of experience within a residential children’s setting in the last 5 years.
  • Meets OFSTED requirements.
  • Ideally experienced in fit-for-purpose interviews and holding a registration.
  • Hold or be willing to work towards a Level 5 Health and Social Care Management and Leadership qualification.
  • Ideally holds a Level 3 Residential Childcare qualification.
  • Must be a driver.
