Diversity, equality, and inclusion
At Action for Children, we're dedicated to building a diverse, inclusive, and authentic workplace. We actively encourage applications from Black, Asian & Minority Ethnic, and disabled candidates as they are under-represented within Action for Children. We want to take deliberate and purposeful action to ensure equal opportunity for all groups in society and for Action for Children.
Male staff are under-represented within our Children Service roles. We would like to encourage more male applicants for our Children Service roles.
We are one of the largest children’s charities in the UK and have been making a difference to the lives of the UK’s vulnerable children for over 150 years.
A bit about the role:
We have an exciting opportunity for a Registered Manager, or an ambitious Deputy Manager/Team Leader ready to take the next step in their career, to join our established therapeutic children's home in Kilburn on a 12-month fixed term contract.
This is a fantastic opportunity to lead a dedicated and experienced team, providing stability, strong leadership and high-quality care for children and young people with complex emotional and behavioral needs.
You'll be responsible for the day-to-day management of the home, ensuring it continues to provide a safe, nurturing and therapeutic environment where children can thrive.
As Registered Manager, you'll inspire and support your team to achieve the very best outcomes for every child. You'll ensure the home continues to meet all regulatory requirements, promotes a positive culture, and embeds best practice across every aspect of care.
Our innovative therapeutic care model is designed to help children build trusting relationships, develop resilience and reach their full potential. You’ll champion this approach, continually seeking opportunities to enhance the quality of care and improve outcomes for the children and young people we support.
How you'll help to create brighter futures
Some key responsibilities of your role as a Registered Manager will be.
- Lead and inspire a high performing team to deliver exceptional therapeutic care
- Create a safe, stable and nurturing home where children and younger people can thrive
- Drive positive outcomes through high quality care planning and practice.
- Build positive, trusting relationships that help children achieve their full potential
- Promote a culture of safeguarding, well-being and continuous improvement
- Ensure the home consistently meets and exceeds regulatory and quality standards
- Coach, develop and empower your team to provide outstanding care.
- Work collaboratively with families, professionals and partner agencies to achieve the best outcomes for children and young people
Let's talk about you.
Whilst a management qualification Level 5 would be great, we are open to those with experience in a management role within a residential/social care setting and we have a development programme to support your professional development.
- Have at least two years’ experience in the last five years working in a role relevant to residential childcare.
- You have at least one year of experience in an early leadership role, demonstrating your ability to guide and support a team.
- You have a strong commitment to creating an inclusive service that meets the diverse needs of children and young people.
- Demonstrable experience of working with children/young people with complex needs, who exhibit challenging and behavioural difficulties.
- Experience of leading by example with the application of safeguarding practices and policies.
Vulnerable children in the UK need your help.
Wherever you work in the Action for Children family, you'll be helping to change the lives of the most vulnerable children in the UK.
Last year, we helped more than 670,000 children and families across the UK. From direct work in communities to national campaigning, we are focused on making sure every child has a safe and happy childhood, and the foundations they need to thrive.
Why Action for Children?
Working here is more than a job. Everyone in the Action for Children family is passionate about protecting and supporting children. It's the sense of purpose that drives us every single day. Because we know that, when we work together, we can make a huge difference to bring lasting improvements to vulnerable children's lives.
Good to know.
