Full job description

Kelmscott Manor is looking for Tea Room Assistants to work in our busy tearoom during this year's Open Season.

Flexible hours working Thursday, Friday & Saturday with potential additional hours on Wednesday. The tearoom is open from 10.15am to 4.30pm.

The Manor's public open days are Thursday to Saturday from April to October. In 2025 we welcomed over 23,000 visitors.

Skills required

  • Knowledge of food, food hygiene and food preparation
  • To be able to work efficiently and tidily
  • An ability to prepare and display food to a high standard
  • Excellent customer service skills and good communicator
  • The ability to think quickly, work under pressure and stay calm.
  • To be reliable and flexible around working hours
  • Good time keeper
  • To be able to work on own initiative
  • Excellent time management and the ability to prioritise workload
  • Highly motivated
  • To be able to take and follow instruction

Qualifications Required

  • Level 2 Food Safety in Catering (If you do not have this qualification, we are happy for it to be obtained once working within the role).
  • Barista Trained desirable.
  • Main Job responsibilities
  • Preparing food and drinks freshly to order, serving on the till and coffee machine.
  • To observe and work strictly to all hygiene and health and safety regulations, filling in any relevant paperwork required.
  • Handling customer enquiries and passing any complaints on to the Manager
  • Greeting and advising customers
  • To clean to a high standard the kitchen area, counter and café area following strict guidelines.
