Cook (Level 3 Food Safety)

DN1 Area
£13.70 per hour
Tuesday to Saturday | Approximately 9:00am – 5:00pm (Flexibility required to start earlier or finish later depending on business needs)
Ongoing Opportunity

Venatu Recruitment Group are currently recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced Cook to join a busy café based in the DN1 area.

This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate Cook who enjoys preparing fresh, high-quality food in a friendly café environment. The successful Cook will be involved in all aspects of food preparation, cooking, kitchen hygiene, and customer service, helping to deliver an excellent experience for every customer.

Previous experience working as a Cook within a café, deli, restaurant, or catering environment is essential, along with a valid Level 3 Food Safety Certificate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Preparing and cooking a variety of fresh food including sandwiches, jacket potatoes, paninis, toasties, salads, breakfasts, and other light bites.
  • Ensuring all food is prepared to a consistently high standard.
  • Maintaining excellent food hygiene and cleanliness throughout the kitchen.
  • Following all Food Safety, HACCP, and company procedures at all times.
  • Monitoring food quality, stock rotation, and use-by dates.
  • Assisting with stock control and notifying management when supplies require replenishing.
  • Cleaning kitchen equipment, utensils, preparation areas, and workstations throughout the day.
  • Ensuring all allergen information is followed and communicated correctly.
  • Working efficiently during busy service periods whilst maintaining food quality.
  • Supporting colleagues to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the café.

What We're Looking For

Previous experience working as a Cook in a café, catering, or hospitality environment (essential).
Valid Level 3 Food Safety Certificate (essential).
Excellent understanding of food hygiene, HACCP, and safe food handling procedures.
Ability to work independently in a small kitchen as well as part of a team.
Good organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
Reliable, punctual, and able to work flexibly to meet business demands.
A positive attitude and passion for preparing quality food.
