Full job description

Alison Gray Recruitment is hiring for Deli Assistants on a part time and full time basis.

  • Hourly Rate: £8 PH (U'18s) £10.85 PH (18-20) £12.71 PH (21+)
  • Part Time - Flexible between Monday - Sunday (16 - 20 hours)
  • Full Time - Rota shift pattern - 37 hours

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare food in line with all food safety standards
  • Complete required food safety paperwork and documentation
  • Cook and serve food while delivering excellent customer service
  • Support the deli supervisor with ordering, stock taking, and visual displays
  • Carry out daily and deep cleaning of deli areas and equipment
  • Provide cover on the shop floor or operate tills (manned or self‑scan) with full training provided
  • Serve customers while maintaining high service standards
  • Merchandise, order, date‑check, and rotate stock across fresh, ambient, and frozen areas
  • Follow all company policies and health & safety procedures to protect yourself, colleagues, customers, and third parties
  • Maintain a consistently high standard of work
  • Assist with stock‑take preparation and counting when required

Requirements

  • Positive attitude
  • Works well as part of a team and is open to learning and expanding on their skill set.

Desirable:

  • GCSE Maths and English, Grade C or above (or equivalent) and/or 6 months previous experience gained in a fast food, cafe, deli, food to go or hot counter environment
  • Previous experience of working in a team
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service skills
  • HACCP (Food Safety) experience
  • Basic Food Hygiene Certificate
