Full job description

We are seeking a reliable and enthusiastic Chef / Cook to join our busy and welcoming Village Centre Café.

The Village Centre is at the heart of the local community and is used extensively throughout the week by a wide range of groups, organisations, and visitors. Our popular café welcomes customers daily, providing freshly prepared food and refreshments in a friendly environment. The Centre also hosts community events, classes, clubs, and private hires, making the café an important part of the overall visitor experience.

As our Chef / Cook, you will play a key role in preparing and serving high-quality food, maintaining excellent food hygiene standards, and helping to create a welcoming atmosphere for customers. We are looking for someone who enjoys working with people, takes pride in their work, and can work efficiently in a busy café setting.

The Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and serving high-quality food within our busy Village Centre Café, helping to provide a welcoming and enjoyable experience for customers. Duties will include:

  • Preparing and cooking café menu items to a high standard
  • Maintaining excellent food hygiene and kitchen cleanliness standards
  • Monitoring stock levels and notifying management of ordering requirements
  • Ensuring food is prepared and stored in accordance with food safety regulations
  • Providing excellent customer service and supporting the café team as required
  • Reporting any maintenance, equipment, or health and safety concerns

What We Are Looking For

  • A reliable and punctual individual with a passion for food and customer service
  • Experience working in a café, catering, or kitchen environment
  • Good knowledge of food hygiene and safe food handling practices
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
  • A positive attitude and the ability to work well as part of a team
  • Food Hygiene certification

Hours and Pay

  • 1 day per week – Monday, 8:30am to 4:00pm
  • Potential for additional shifts to cover events, holidays, sickness, and busy periods
  • Pay will exceed the National Minimum Wage/National Living Wage
