An Talla is recruiting! An Talla is a busy café & retail destination on the banks of the Caledonian Canal at Dochgarroch Lock - 3 miles South on the A82 and part of Jacobite Loch Ness Cruises.

Job Description: We are seeking a dedicated and hardworking Kitchen Porter to join our busy kitchen team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our kitchen by maintaining cleanliness, assisting with food preparation, and supporting our chefs and kitchen staff.

This position is 30-40 hours per week between 9am - 5:30pm 5 days from 7.

This position is seasonal with the potential to become permanent.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain Cleanliness: Ensure all kitchen equipment, utensils, and work areas are clean and sanitized.
  • Dishwashing: Operate dishwashing machines and wash dishes, utensils, and cooking equipment manually when needed.
  • Food Preparation: Assist chefs with basic food preparation tasks, such as peeling, chopping, and portioning ingredients.
  • Waste Disposal: Properly dispose of waste and maintain cleanliness in waste disposal areas.
  • Stock Management: Unload deliveries, organise storage areas, and ensure food supplies are stored correctly.
  • Health & Safety: Adhere to all food safety and hygiene regulations, ensuring a safe working environment.
  • Support: Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations and report any maintenance or repair issues to management.
  • Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Chef or kitchen management.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a kitchen environment is preferred but not essential.
  • Positive attitude and strong teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a busy kitchen.
  • Strong communication.
  • Willingness to learn and take direction from senior chefs.
  • Flexibility to work daytime shifts, including weekends.
