Café Assistant – David Weir Leisure Centre

To support the delivery of a high-quality café service by preparing and serving food and beverages, maintaining excellent cleanliness standards, and providing a professional and engaging customer experience at all times.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Service

  • Deliver friendly, efficient, and professional service to all customers
  • Engage positively with customers and contribute to a welcoming café environment
  • Take orders accurately and handle payments using the till system
  • Resolve basic customer queries and escalate issues where necessary

Food & Beverage Service

  • Prepare and serve food and drinks in line with company standards
  • Ensure all food is presented to a high standard
  • Follow all food safety, hygiene, and allergen procedures
  • Maintain knowledge of products, including ingredients and allergens

Standards & Cleanliness

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organised working environment at all times
  • Carry out regular cleaning tasks, including equipment, surfaces, and customer areas
  • Ensure all areas meet hygiene and presentation standards expected within a premium facility

Teamwork & Reliability

  • Work collaboratively with the café team and wider centre staff
  • Follow instructions from the Café Manager and supervisors
  • Be punctual, reliable, and prepared to work flexibly to meet business needs

Stock & Operations Support

  • Assist with stock rotation, replenishment, and basic stock checks
  • Minimise waste by following correct procedures
  • Support the smooth day-to-day running of the café

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Level 2 Food Safety & Hygiene (desirable) or willingness to obtain
  • Previous experience in a customer-facing or hospitality role (desirable but not essential)
  • Basic understanding of food hygiene and cleanliness standards
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
