As part of our continued growth, we are currently looking to recruit a Facilities Maintenance Engineer to strengthen our team at our Bicester offices.

About The Role

This is a hands‑on, proactive role responsible for ensuring our Bicester depot remains safe, compliant, well‑maintained, and fully operational to support our fast‑moving wholesale environment.

You will take ownership of day‑to‑day facilities management, carrying out general maintenance tasks, coordinating contractors, and ensuring our warehouse and surrounding areas are kept to a high standard. Working closely with operational teams, you will play a key role in maintaining a safe, efficient, and well‑organised site that enables our people to work effectively and our customers to receive the best possible service.

Location: Working over multiple locations in Bicester, Oxfordshire

Key Responsibilities:

  • General maintenance — painting, decorating, basic repairs, and handyman duties
  • Racking inspections — conduct and manage inspections to ensure safety compliance
  • Contractor coordination — oversee external contractors, ensuring work is completed safely, on time, and to standard
  • Proactive issue identification — spot maintenance issues early and implement effective solutions
  • Site safety & organisation — maintain a clean, safe, and well‑organised working environment
  • Continuous improvement — support ongoing upgrades and improvements to site facilities
  • Refrigeration & air‑con maintenance — basic troubleshooting and maintenance
  • Loading bay & shutter door systems — support upkeep of dock levellers, speed doors, and shutters
  • Fire & security systems — support checks on fire alarms, CCTV, and emergency lighting
  • Pallet racking —carry out inspections and maintenance
  • Catering & food production equipment — basic maintenance and fault reporting
  • Warehouse equipment — forklifts, pallet trucks, compactors (including LOLER awareness)
  • Compressed air systems — basic monitoring and maintenance
  • Compliance checks— support completion of:
  • BRC / SALSA / Legal audits
  • Water hygiene & Legionella checks
  • Gas & electrical safety checks (PAT, FWT, Gas Safety)
  • Fire and H&S risk assessments
  • Weekend availability when required to support operational needs

About You :

  • Maintenance experience in a similar role (or supervisory level)
  • Trade background — carpentry, decorating, general building, or similar
  • Hands‑on problem solver with a proactive approach
  • Contractor management experience
  • Health & Safety knowledge
  • Organised and reliable with the ability to work independently
  • Basic electrical & plumbing knowledge
  • Basic decorating skills

Desirable

  • Experience with site expansion projects
  • Knowledge of waste management and hazardous waste compliance
  • Understanding of business continuity, disaster recovery, and emergency planning
