Full job description

RuralView.uk | Near Sittingbourne, Kent

Salary: £26,000–£28,000 per annum, depending on experience
Hours: 32 hours per week, flexible working arrangements
Contract: Permanent
Location: Predominantly office-based, rural farm location near Sittingbourne, Kent

About RuralView

RuralView.uk is a growing, independent UK business specialising in 4G and Wi-Fi security cameras for farms, rural properties, businesses and remote locations.

We're a small, ambitious team with big plans, and we're looking for someone technically minded to join us and take ownership of our day-to-day technical support, repairs and equipment testing.

This isn't your typical IT helpdesk job.

One day you might be helping a customer connect their camera to a 4G network, the next you could be taking a camera apart to diagnose a fault, testing equipment or helping us work out a technical solution for a new commercial customer.

You'll work closely with the rest of the team and report directly to the company director, with a genuine opportunity to make a difference to how the business operates and develops.

If you enjoy technology, solving problems and getting stuck into something different every day, this could be a great fit.

What You'll Be Doing

Customer Technical Support

  • Helping customers set up, configure and troubleshoot our 4G and Wi-Fi security cameras.
  • Providing friendly, practical technical support over the telephone, email and support tickets.
  • Diagnosing connectivity issues involving Wi-Fi, routers, 4G networks, SIM cards and camera settings.
  • Helping customers with camera apps, recording settings, notifications and other features.
  • Taking ownership of technical enquiries and seeing them through to resolution.

Hands-On Repairs, Returns & Testing

  • Receiving and inspecting returned cameras and equipment.
  • Diagnosing faults and carrying out basic repairs, including replacing circuit boards and other components.
  • Testing and preparing repaired equipment for return to customers.
  • Working through existing camera stock, testing, sorting and refurbishing equipment where possible.
  • Keeping accurate records of repairs, returns and testing.

Technical Knowledge & Problem-Solving

  • Becoming our go-to person for technical product questions.
  • Supporting colleagues with technical advice on camera setups, networking and installations.
  • Helping us develop solutions for more advanced commercial and business customers.
  • Identifying recurring technical issues and suggesting improvements to products, processes and documentation.

SIM Administration & General Operations

  • Managing our Multi-SIM services, including activations, changes and cancellations.
  • Keeping technical guides, troubleshooting information and internal documentation up to date.
  • Helping improve how we handle support enquiries, repairs and customer issues.
  • Getting involved in other areas of the business when needed. We're a small team, and everyone helps each other out.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who's genuinely interested in technology, enjoys figuring out how things work and can explain technical problems in a way that makes sense to customers.

Ideally, you'll have experience in IT support, networking, telecommunications, CCTV, electronics or a similar technical environment.

You'll need:

  • A good working understanding of networking, including IP addresses, DHCP, routers, Ethernet, Wi-Fi and PoE.
  • Experience diagnosing technical problems and working through solutions logically.
  • A practical approach to technology, including confidence using tools, opening devices and carrying out basic repairs.
  • Good communication skills, particularly when helping customers who aren't technically minded.
  • The ability to manage your own workload, stay organised and take responsibility for resolving problems.
  • A positive attitude and willingness to get involved in different areas of a growing business.

Previous experience with CCTV systems, IP cameras or mobile connectivity would be useful, but isn't essential. We'll provide full training on our products and systems.

Important: Our office is based in a rural farm location near Sittingbourne, so you'll need to be able to drive and have reliable transport to get to work.

Working Hours & Flexibility

This is a 30-35-hour-per-week position, predominantly based at our office near Sittingbourne.

We're a small business and understand that work needs to fit around life, not the other way around. We're happy to be flexible and work with the right person to find a schedule that suits both you and the business.

Ideally, we're looking for someone who can start around 8am on weekdays, with one later shift during the week, typically on a Tuesday or Thursday, to provide additional customer support coverage.

There's also the option to work Saturday mornings from home if that suits you, with your weekday hours adjusted accordingly.

These are our preferred working arrangements rather than a rigid schedule, and we're very happy to discuss alternative patterns with the right candidate.

Ultimately, we're looking for someone who's a great fit for the team, and we believe finding a working arrangement that suits everyone is just as important.

Why Join RuralView?

We're not a big corporate business with endless layers of management. We're a small, growing company where your ideas, knowledge and contribution will genuinely matter.

You'll have the opportunity to:

  • Take ownership of an important part of the business and make the role your own.
  • Work directly with the company director and help shape how our technical support operates.
  • Enjoy a varied role combining customer support, practical repairs and technical problem-solving.
  • Get involved in new products, testing and developing solutions for our growing commercial customer base.
  • Help introduce better systems, processes and ways of working.
  • Be part of a friendly, ambitious team where your work makes a visible difference.

We're looking for someone who wants more than just another support job. Someone who enjoys taking responsibility, improving things and being part of a business that's going somewhere.

Interested?

If this sounds like your sort of role, we'd love to hear from you.

Please send us your CV along with a short introduction about your technical experience and why you think you'd be a good fit for RuralView.
