Falkirk Council are looking to recruit a temporary Support for Learning assistant at Easter Carmuirs Primary. You will work alongside teachers and other support for learning assistants to enrich the learning journeys and achievements of our children. Your daily responsibilities will span general classroom assistance, playground supervision, supporting personal and wellbeing care with sensitivity, and delivering targeted support to help pupils thrive.
At Easter Carmuirs Primary School, we are dedicated to creating a nurturing, inclusive, and supportive environment where every child can be supported to achieve their full potential. We are seeking a compassionate, reflective, and enthusiastic Support for Learning Assistant to join our dedicated team.
In this role, you will work across a variety of learning environments—including both mainstream classrooms and Enhanced Provision—helping to ensure every learner feels valued, supported, and included.
Key Skills & Attributes We Are Looking For:
- Empathy & Sincerity: A genuine commitment to placing children at the heart of everything you do. You will build warm, trustworthy relationships with pupils, ensuring their individual safety, care, and well-being are always prioritised.
- Respect & Inclusion: A proactive approach to promoting equity and diversity. You will champion inclusive practice, adapting your approach to meet diverse learning, emotional, and physical needs across mainstream and Enhanced Provision settings.
- Personal Care & Dignity: A sensitive, compassionate, and respectful approach to assisting children with their personal care needs (such as hygiene, dressing, and intimate care). You will uphold each child's privacy, comfort, and dignity at all times while encouragement of independence is promoted.
- Strong Communication: Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills to engage effectively with children, teachers and multi-agency teams to enhance educational experiences.
- Physical & Mobility Support: Confidence, safety awareness, and patience in supporting children with specific physical needs, promoting their active participation in all areas of school life.
- Collaborative Teamwork: A flexible, positive mindset and a strong team-player attitude, ready to work collaboratively alongside teaching and support staff to foster a positive, welcoming school ethos.
There are 3 temporary positions available;
- 5 hours working Monday to Friday
- 5 hours with a working pattern to be negotiated between the successful candidate and the school to best meet operational need.
- 18 hours with a working pattern to be negotiated between the successful candidate and the school to best meet operational need.
These posts are temporary until April 2027 due to service requirement.
If you are the successful candidate, you will be required to gain/maintain PVG scheme membership, the cost of which will be met by the preferred candidate.
