Nursery Deputy Manager Wanted! | Little Squirrels Play Forest

Are you ready to make a real difference in the lives of children, work in a team that feels like family, and maybe occasionally sail to London on a pirate ship made of cushions? Then keep reading — this might just be the most rewarding job you’ll ever do.

At Little Squirrels Play Forest, we’re not your average nursery. We’re a small, family-run group with a big passion for what we do. We draw inspiration from a range of learning theorists and approaches, and at the heart of it all, we believe play is the highest form of learning. We treat children with respect and trust, encourage risk-taking and curiosity, and ensure that every child is surrounded by beauty, wonder, and genuinely caring educators who learn alongside them.

We’re on the lookout for a Nursery Deputy Manager to join our tight-knit (and growing!) team. This is more than a management job — it’s a leadership role where you’ll support our Nursery Manager in all things operational, be a rock for our incredible team, and help maintain the brilliant reputation and outcomes we’re known for.

What You’ll Do:

  • Support the day-to-day running of the nursery and ensure all EYFS and Ofsted requirements are met
  • Lead and inspire a dedicated team of early years educators
  • Be a mentor and motivator for staff development
  • Jump into role play with enthusiasm (yes, even as a dragon or space explorer)
  • Know not just every child’s name, but also their favourite toy, pet’s name, and maybe even their nan’s dog’s birthday
  • Help shape a beautiful, engaging environment full of awe and wonder

What You’ll Need:

  • A full and relevant Early Years qualification (Level 3 or above)
  • At least one year of leadership experience in a busy nursery setting
  • A deep love for early childhood education and a commitment to play-based learning
  • A sense of humour, a team spirit, and a willingness to pretend to eat a lot of playdough meals

What You’ll Get:

  • Private health Insurance
  • Competitive pay and a £500 bonus after probation
  • Generous childcare discounts
  • Enhanced holidays that grow with your service
  • Long service awards
  • Discounts at high street shops
  • Tailored training plans (virtual and in-person, we’ve got the costs covered)
  • Early Years teacher-led provision with quality advisor support
  • 24/7 mental health support line for you and your family
  • Access to the Bike to Work scheme & Company Pension
  • Company-wide training days with industry leaders
  • Real career progression across our growing group
  • Did we mention the donuts? There are always donuts.

We believe every child deserves the best start in life, and that starts with you — a passionate educator, a thoughtful leader, and someone who’s not afraid to join in the fun.

If you're ready to feel loved, important, and part of something truly special, we’d love to hear from you.

Apply now and let’s grow together!

We are fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and we expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Any appointment will be subject to a satisfactory Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and the receipt of suitable references.
