Full job description

A&M EDM Limited is looking for an experienced CAD/CAM Programmer to join our precision engineering team in Smethwick.

This is a varied role within a busy, fast-paced manufacturing environment. You will produce CNC programs for work ranging from complex one-off components through to repeat and batch production.

The work includes technically demanding components for Formula 1, motorsport, aerospace and other high-performance engineering sectors. You will need to work accurately, respond to changing production priorities and consistently meet demanding quality and delivery requirements.

Essential experience

Applicants must have:

  • Strong programming experience using Autodesk PowerMill.
  • Experience using Autodesk PowerShape.
  • Previous CAD/CAM programming experience within a precision engineering or manufacturing environment.
  • A sound understanding of CNC milling and machining processes.
  • Experience programming complex, high-precision components.
  • Knowledge of machining a wide range of materials, from aluminium through to difficult-to-machine materials such as Inconel.
  • The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, models and technical specifications.
  • A good understanding of tooling, cutting strategies, speeds and feeds.
  • The ability to work accurately in a quick-paced production environment.

Practical experience using both PowerMill and PowerShape is essential for this position.What We Offer
