Location: Camden, London
Pay: £30.67 per hour PAYE / £40.15 per hour Umbrella
Contract: Temporary – 16 weeks
Hours: 36 hours per week

Seven Resourcing is recruiting for Senior Coronial Officers to support a busy Coroner’s Service in Camden, London. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced legal, coronial or case management professional to play a key role in supporting investigations into deaths that require formal coronial investigation.
Working closely with the HM Senior Coroner, Area Coroners and Assistant Coroners, you will provide high-quality case management and administrative support throughout the coronial process, ensuring investigations are progressed efficiently and in accordance with relevant legislation and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Senior Coroner, Area Coroners and Assistant Coroners with the investigation and management of complex coronial cases.
- Manage cases involving sudden, unexpected, violent, unnatural or otherwise reportable deaths, including deaths occurring in custody or state detention.
- Coordinate cases from the initial referral through to the conclusion of the coronial investigation.
- Ensure case files, evidence and relevant documentation are accurately maintained and readily available.
- Review information received from medical professionals, police, hospitals, families and other relevant agencies.
- Assist with identifying outstanding information and taking appropriate action to progress investigations.
- Prepare case documentation and information for Coroners and relevant stakeholders.
- Communicate sensitively and professionally with bereaved families, legal representatives, professionals and partner organisations.
- Ensure all case management activity is undertaken in accordance with applicable coronial legislation, regulations, policies and procedures.
- Support the scheduling and preparation of hearings, inquests and other coronial proceedings.
- Liaise with internal and external agencies to obtain information and ensure cases progress within appropriate timescales.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure confidential and sensitive information is handled appropriately.
- Identify potential issues or delays within cases and escalate matters appropriately.
- Provide advice and guidance on routine coronial processes and case management requirements.
- Contribute to the effective operation and continuous improvement of the Coroner’s Service.
About You
The successful candidate will have strong legal, investigative, case management or coronial experience and be confident working with sensitive and complex information.
You will ideally have:
- Experience working within a coronial, legal, regulatory, investigative or similar environment.
- A good understanding of coronial law and procedures.
- Knowledge of legislation and guidance governing coronial investigations, including the Coroners and Justice Act 2009 and Coroners (Investigations) Regulations 2013.
- Strong case management and organisational skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- The confidence to communicate sensitively with bereaved families and professional stakeholders.
- Experience dealing with confidential and highly sensitive information.
- The ability to research, analyse and interpret complex information.
- Strong IT and administrative skills.
- The ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a wider professional team.
