Full job description

Our Role

Every loss tells a story. Your role is to uncover it and help the business prevent it happening again.

You'll turn data into actionable intelligence to reduce losses across The White Company's Retail, Ecommerce, Distribution and Customer Services operations.

You'll connect our enterprise Data Lake with other business systems to build a clearer understanding of where and why losses occur.

Working across teams, you'll uncover the causes of fraud, theft and operational losses, including colleague behaviour and weaknesses in controls.

You'll also own Ravelin, our fraud technology platform, balancing fraud protection with payment acceptance and a smooth customer journey.

You'll help shape the business's approach to loss prevention.

Success means measurable reductions in loss through operational improvements, not simply producing more reports.

What you’ll be doing

  • Build a connected loss-intelligence capability across Retail, Ecommerce, Distribution and Customer Services by linking data from the enterprise Data Lake and wider business systems.
  • Close reporting gaps by developing datasets, dashboards and analytical models that explain losses and identify emerging trends, cross-channel patterns and performance opportunities.
  • Lead root-cause investigations into fraud, theft, operational issues, compliance failures and system weaknesses.
  • Turn findings into clear, commercially focused recommendations and lead cross-functional initiatives that deliver practical, sustainable improvements.
  • Measure the impact of loss-reduction initiatives, using the results to strengthen reporting, controls and processes.
  • Own and develop Ravelin, optimising payment acceptance, fraud controls and reporting while protecting the customer experience.
  • Present intelligence to senior stakeholders, securing support for stronger controls and embedding data-led decision-making in day-to-day operations.
  • Partner with Digital, Retail, Contact Centre, Supply Chain, Finance and Technology to develop effective fraud-prevention strategies.
  • Monitor industry trends, emerging fraud risks and changing customer behaviours to ensure controls remain effective and proportionate.
  • Provide customer-risk expertise and analytical insight throughout business-change projects.

What skills & experience you’ll need

We're looking for an experienced analytical leader, not necessarily an online fraud expert.

You'll bring:

  • Significant experience combining data from multiple sources to solve complex business problems and inform operational decisions.
  • Proven experience designing and building reports, dashboards and analytical models, not just interpreting existing reports.
  • The ability to make sense of unfamiliar datasets quickly.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, including the ability to influence and challenge constructively across business functions.
  • Experience delivering operational or process improvement initiatives.
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience using Power BI, AI, SQL or similar business intelligence tools. Experience with enterprise Data Lakes or cloud-based data platforms.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex analysis clearly and engagingly.
  • Strong commercial judgement and the ability to balance risk with customer experience.
  • Experience in fraud prevention, business intelligence, operational or retail analytics, financial crime or continuous improvement would be advantageous.
  • The ability to learn new systems quickly and become the subject matter expert for Ravelin, our fraud technology platform.

What will make you brilliant at this role
  • You'll focus on making a difference, rather than producing reports for their own sake.
  • You'll be naturally curious, asking "why?" and looking beyond the obvious explanation.
  • You'll enjoy spotting connections others may not see.
  • You'll bring people together and follow through on improvements.
  • You'll be resourceful when answers aren't readily available, exploring untapped data and new ways to measure what matters.
  • And importantly, you’ll bring a strong “what next?” mindset, turning insight into practical solutions that mitigate all forms of risk and loss.
