Job Overview

Paws & Play (Bolton) is a fun, friendly and well-established dog daycare. We

are looking for a positive, reliable Casual Dog Daycare Assistant to join our

team and help us during busier periods.

This is a zero-hours role, so the hours will vary according to the needs of

the daycare and we cannot guarantee regular work each week. Some cover may be

needed at short notice, occasionally the evening before a shift. For that

reason, flexibility, reliable transport and living close enough to reach our

Bolton daycare at short notice are a real advantage.

This is a hands-on role with the chance to work with dogs of many different

sizes, breeds and personalities. You will help keep them safe, happy and

settled while delivering the friendly, professional service our customers

expect.

Duties

• Supervise dogs in a busy daycare environment and monitor their behaviour, wellbeing and interactions throughout the day.
• Handle dogs calmly and confidently, following the team's procedures and raising any welfare or behaviour concerns promptly with senior staff.
• Help maintain a clean, safe and hygienic setting, including regular cleaning of dog areas, equipment and shared spaces.
• Support feeding, enrichment, play and rest routines as instructed.
• Assist with arrivals and collections, communicating warmly and confidently with customers.
• Work as part of a supportive team and follow all health, safety, cleaning and dog-welfare procedures.

You will be someone who:

• Is comfortable being on your feet for most of the day and does not mind the practical side of the job, including cleaning.
• Is focused, observant and able to remain calm in a busy environment.
• Is confident around dogs and can handle them sensibly and positively.
• Has a friendly, professional manner with customers and colleagues.
• Speaks up promptly if they spot a concern with a dog, the environment or a task that needs support.
• Is dependable, flexible and able to accept work at short notice when available.

What helps

Previous experience in a dog daycare, kennel, dog-walking business, grooming

environment or another animal-care setting would be desirable. A dog-related

qualification or certification is also desirable.

However, we would also be pleased to hear from people who are beginning

relevant animal-care studies and want to develop their practical experience

alongside their learning. The right attitude, willingness to learn and genuine

care for dogs are important to us.

On-the-job and off-the-job training will be provided.

Pay: £10.85-£12.71 per hour

Expected hours: 1.0 – 30.0 per week
