Overview
We are seeking to appoint an experienced and passionate Head Chef to join our small team here at The Dog & Gun Inn. The Chef will ideally have at least 5 years experience with a minimum 1 year at Head Chef level. Experience of working with fresh ingredients/produce is essential. The Chef will possess strong leadership skills and a deep understanding of food preparation and production, ensuring that all dishes meet our high standards of quality and presentation. As the Head Chef, you will play a pivotal role in managing kitchen operations, supervising staff, and maintaining food safety protocols, managing all aspects of due diligence and ensuring all kitchen staff adhere to quality hygiene and cleanliness standards whilst fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all aspects of kitchen operations, including menu planning, food preparation, and presentation.
  • Supervise and manage kitchen staff, providing guidance and support to ensure efficient workflow.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and maintain high standards of hygiene throughout the kitchen.
  • Develop innovative recipes and menu ideas that reflect seasonal trends while catering to customer preferences.
  • Experience of allergen management and kitchen controls to ensure customer safety
  • Monitor inventory levels and ordering, manage food production to minimise waste and control costs.
  • Train new kitchen staff on cooking techniques, food safety practices, and operational procedures and also support exiting kitchen staff to develop their roles.
  • Collaborate with front-of-house staff to ensure seamless service and exceptional guest experiences.
  • Maintain a positive working environment that encourages teamwork, creativity, and professional growth.

Experience

  • Proven experience as a Head Chef or as an Experienced Chef with demonstrable kitchen management experience within a restaurant, pub or hospitality setting utilising fresh produce.
  • Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques, cooking methods, and kitchen equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a team effectively while fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence.
  • Familiarity with food safety regulations and best practices in the industry
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • A passion for food and a commitment to delivering high-quality dishes that exceed guest expectations.
  • Level 3 food hygiene certificate
  • Readily available references

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: £33,000.00-£35,000.00 per year
