Overview
business in a sustainable way. We work closely with many other areas of the business but most notably stores, store operations, digital growth, product and design teams.
Join Dunelm as a Field Service Assistant Technician and become the face of our made-to-measure service across London. Travelling between customer homes by motorcycle, you'll provide expert aftercare support for our bespoke curtains, blinds, and shutters, carrying out minor adjustments and improvements to ensure every product looks and performs exactly as intended. Your work will have a direct impact on customer satisfaction, helping to create beautiful living spaces while delivering an exceptional in-home experience.
This is a role for someone who enjoys working independently, meeting new people, and solving practical challenges. Combining hands-on technical skills with outstanding customer service, you'll build trust with customers, provide tailored solutions, and take pride in delivering high-quality workmanship. Supported by our wider store and service teams, you'll play a key role in ensuring every made-to-measure purchase continues to delight customers long after installation.
What you'll be doing
- Provide a friendly, professional, and informative experience in customers’ homes.
- Accurately measure windows and spaces for made-to measure curtains, blinds, and shutters.
- Occasionally install basic and straightforward products safely and to a high standard.
- Travel efficiently between appointments using a motorcycle, planning routes effectively.
- Advise customers on product suitability, measurement considerations, and simple installation expectations.
- Record and submit clear, accurate measurements and job notes to support ordering and fitting.
- Manage your own schedule and appointments, ensuring punctuality and reliability.
- Collaborate with store teams, sales colleagues, and fitters to ensure customer expectations are met.
- Handle customer queries with confidence and empathy, escalating where appropriate.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and safe working practices while operating in the field.
- Uphold Dunelm’s values and represent the brand with pride.
What we'll look for in you
- Valid UK A1, A2, or full Category A motorcycle licence.
- Confidence and competence in riding a motorcycle for regular travel between customer locations.
- Strong customer service skills with a friendly, professional approach.
- Excellent attention to detail, particularly when taking and recording measurements.
- Good organisational and time management skills, with the ability to work independently.
- Clear communication skills, able to explain processes and recommendations to customers.
- Basic practical/DIY skills, including confidence using simple hand tools
- Previous experience in a field-based, customer-facing, or home service role.
- Experience in basic installation, fitting, or home improvement tasks.
- Knowledge of curtains, blinds, shutters, or measuring techniques (training provided).
- Familiarity with route planning and working efficiently across multiple locations.
