Full job description

We are delighted to have opportunities for enthusiastic and dedicated mental health support workers to join us and work within a busy and innovative CAMHS Outreach service to offer Home Treatment for young people with eating disorders. If you feel you are a good fir for this role, we advise that you submit your application ASAP as we will be capping the number of applications.

Our service operates from 8am - 8pm 7 days a week, across Bristol, South Glos & North Somerset. We are looking for staff to cover these areas. Due to the wide patch we cover, driving license and car to allow the ability to travel across these areas as crucial to the role.

The roles will include a variety of training opportunities, including internal training in family based treatment for Eating Disorders, CBT-E, and crisis support and supported eating.

We will also offer opportunities to access our wider CAMHS training curriculum, alongside regular individual and group supervision. You would be working amongst a skilled, supportive & caring team of registered and non-registered practitioners.

Temporary base is currently in Riverside Adolescent Unit, Blackberry Hill Hospital

We provide short term intensive home treatment, and in-reach into Acute Hospital settings as an extension to a Community CAMHS care package.

We aim to support young people and their families to avoid inpatient admissions where possible and support them with recovery in a home setting. The team currently is made up of a skilled mix of band 7 & band 6 Mental Health Practitioners & Band 4 Support Workers. We aim to work in pairs where possible, however there are times that you would be expected to work autonomously with indirect support and supervision from a registered practitioner.

This role will be working within a specialist CAMHS eating disorder service which offers a real opportunity to develop new skills whilst also increasing your current skills and knowledge base via direct work and specialist training.

This role also includes working with YP who are being fed via Naso-Gastric (NG) tube in their home environment. You will not be providing NG feeds.

Providing meal support, psychoeducation and emotional support to young people and their families who are effected by an eating disorder within Bristol, South Glos and North Somerset.

Providing support in young people's homes and Acute Hospitals to prevent or decrease the length of hospital admissions where possible.

Working alongside colleagues within the ED Home Treatment Team, and wider colleagues from Acute trusts and CAMHS.

We are the lead provider of healthcare for people with serious mental illness, learning disabilities and autism across Bath and North East Somerset (BaNES), Swindon and Wiltshire, and Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire.

We aim to provide High Quality, Compassionate Care everywhere, every day. This means our services will be safe, clinically effective and provide a positive all round experience for our patients, families and carers. And we believe passionately in treating everyone with kindness, respect and empathy.

Key to this is providing a supportive and safe environment for our 4,000 staff where we all feel welcome and able to do the best we can for those we support. Our staff and teams work incredibly hard delivering services across more than 90 locations, covering 2,200miles, to more than 1.8million people.

At AWP we actively encourage applicants from all backgrounds; we are particularly keen to encourage applications from people from Black, Asian and minority ethnic backgrounds, those with disabilities and from the LGBTQ+ community. We want people to bring their unique blend of experiences, backgrounds, perspectives and knowledge to AWP, as diversity makes us stronger.

Promote and champion the rights, values, responsibilities and diversity of people, and act in an open and compassionate way within clear professional boundaries.

Promote and maintain effective communication with people in order to build and sustain positive working relationships with individuals, families and carers, team members and other agencies. This may include accessing translation and interpreting services.

Contribute to the planning, implementation and review of care packages, including implementing specific parts of an individual care plan.

Working autonomously within relevant practice boundaries, under indirect, but not ‘direct’, supervision of registered clinicians.

Conduct comprehensive assessments of mental health needs and clinical risks.

Maintain accurate, confidential records of patient activity, contributing to a range of written documents as appropriate, including reports, referrals and letters.

Enable people to understand and manage their mental health needs in line with their care plan and relapse prevention strategies. This may include enabling people to manage their own domestic and personal resources, housing needs, and enabling people to access learning / training, or work opportunities.

Support individuals in developing and maintaining their identity and personal relationships, including potentially difficult relationships.

This is a developing service, which will enhance our current offer to young people who have eating problems. This includes community nursing and acute hospital support. The team operates at the interface of Acute Hospitals, Home Treatment and Inpatient Admission, alongside locality CAMHS teams.
