Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) – Self-Employed

Location: Stevenage, Hertfordshire (SG1)

Pay: Up to £28.00 per hour (self-employed)

Job type: Freelance / Self-employed

Start date: Immediate

Medical Emergency Solutions Ltd (MES) is a well-established independent ambulance service with a strong reputation across the NHS and private sector. We are consultant-led, financially stable and committed to high clinical standards, and we support our crews with clear governance, good equipment and a friendly, professional team.

We are now recruiting self-employed Emergency Medical Technicians to work from our satellite station in Stevenage (SG1), with immediate start available.

Invoices can be submitted weekly and are paid within 14 days.

What you will be doing

- Responding to emergency and urgent care calls as part of a frontline crew

- Assessing, treating and monitoring patients, escalating any deterioration

- Keeping patients safe and comfortable throughout their care

- Giving clear, accurate handovers to hospital staff and receiving handovers from other crews

- Completing vehicle and equipment checks, patient records and incident reports to a high standard

What you need

- IHCD Ambulance Technician, BTEC Level 3, FREC 5 or equivalent EMT qualification

- IHCD emergency driver training or a Level 3 CERAD (emergency response ambulance driving) certificate

- At least 1 year of frontline or urgent care experience

- A full UK driving licence held for at least 2 years, with no more than 3 penalty points

- An Enhanced DBS check

- Up-to-date immunisations

- Current mandatory training, including safeguarding, moving and handling, and infection prevention and control

- Evidence of continuing professional development (CPD)

- Excellent communication skills and a good level of spoken and written English
