THE ROLE

We are seeking a passionate, detail-oriented, and customer-focused Part-Time Production Roaster & Roastery Cafe Assistant to join our team.

This is a varied role combining coffee production, quality control, order fulfilment, and cafe support. The successful candidate will assist across the roastery and cafe, helping us maintain high standards of coffee quality, customer service, and day-to-day operations.

The role is ideal for someone who is enthusiastic about specialty coffee, enjoys working as part of a small team, and takes pride in both the quality of the product and the customer experience.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Roastery & Coffee Production

• Following roasting profiles for various blends and single-origin coffees.
• Assisting with the development of new coffee recipes and blends to meet customer demands.
• Roasting and fulfilling customer orders while ensuring quality control standards are met.
• De-stoning roasted coffee to ensure product integrity.
• Assisting in bagging and sealing roasted coffee in preparation for delivery.
• Assisting with the timely delivery of coffee orders.
• Using Cropster software for roasting and scheduling.
• Keeping accurate inventory records for both green coffee and roasted products.
• Organising and maintaining the roastery workspace to ensure a clean and efficient environment.
• Cleaning, protecting, and maintaining all roasting equipment to ensure longevity and performance.

Roastery Cafe & Customer Service

• Preparing and serving high-quality coffee and other café beverages to customers.
• Providing friendly, knowledgeable, and welcoming customer service.
• Assisting customers with coffee selections, brewing methods, and product recommendations.
• Operating the cafe till and processing customer orders and payments.
• Supporting the preparation and presentation of cafe food and other products.
• Maintaining high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and presentation across the cafe.
• Restocking cafe supplies, retail products, and coffee equipment as required.
• Assisting with the opening and closing of the cafe and completing daily operational tasks.
• Supporting the wider team with general cafe and roastery duties as needed.
• Helping to create a positive, engaging, and welcoming environment for customers.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

• A genuine passion for coffee and an interest in specialty coffee production.
• Previous experience in coffee roasting, cafe work, or a similar hospitality environment is desirable.
• A willingness to learn and develop skills across both roasting and cafe operations.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
• Good organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
• A positive, reliable, and flexible approach to work.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• The ability to work independently and as part of a small team.
• A willingness to undertake physical tasks and maintain a clean, safe working environment.
• Availability to work one weekend day a week.

THE POSITION

• Job Title: Part-Time Production Roaster & Roastery Cafe Assistant
• Employment Type: Part-time
• Hours: Varied (minimum 16 hours across 2 days)
• Location: Wellington House

Pay: £12.71 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 16.0 per week
