Job Description: Employability & ESOL Teacher Bedford, Biggleswade, Leighton Buzzard - face to face delivery

We are looking for an experienced Employability & ESOL Teacher to join our team.

If you are passionate about teaching English, supporting students to secure employment, have a calm positive personality, and enjoy making a difference, we’d love to meet you.

As an Employability & ESOL Teacher , you’ll create tailored educational plans based on each student’s needs and evaluate their progress through assignments and assessments.

You’ll organise courses for non-native speakers, employing diverse activities and methods that cover all aspects of the English language, including speaking, writing, and comprehension.

You'll work with each student to understand their employment journey and support with building the confidence, improving their CV's and interview skills.

We are currently delivering a wide range of government-funded programmes and services to support individuals, families, and businesses by promoting good health and encouraging employability. Among these, our ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) teaching plays a vital role in helping individuals improve their language skills, enabling them to access employment opportunities, integrate into their communities, and navigate essential services. By empowering participants with better communication skills, we contribute to their overall well-being and long-term success in both personal and professional spheres.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare classroom and course materials.
  • Deliver face-to-face lessons.
  • Assign homework and exams.
  • Grade students’ assessments.
  • Create individualised plans for students with special requirements (e.g., learning disabilities).
  • Research and implement new teaching methods for teaching English as a second language.
  • Create a supportive and positive classroom environment.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance and grades.
  • Provide progress reports on students.
  • Provide CV support and interview skills
  • Liase with local employers to arrange introductions and learning opportunities for your clients to prepare them for employment

Requirements and Skills

  • Previous experience as an Employability & ESOL Teacher or in a similar role.
  • Knowledge of various methods of teaching English to non-native speakers.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • A calm and resilient personality.
  • Ability to handle work under pressure.
  • ESOL, TESOL, TEFL, or equivalent certification.
  • Driving licence and willingness to travel occasionally.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of Arabic or other languages.
  • Additional driving experience and willingness to travel.
