Location: Houses of Parliament, Westminster, London

Duration: Ongoing / long-term programme

Overview

We are looking for reliable Electrical Mates to support a long-term electrical programme at the Houses of Parliament. Working alongside our electricians, you will support everything from surveying and investigation of the existing electrical systems through to the hands-on rectification, remedial and upgrade works that follow. It's varied, practical work on a complex, high-profile estate.

This is the early phase of a larger, long-term programme. Consistency across shifts is essential given the sensitive and complex nature of the site, so we are seeking dependable individuals who can commit to steady work over the duration of the project.

What you'll be doing

  • Assist with surveying and investigation of existing electrical systems
  • Support the tracing and identification of circuits and components
  • Assist with rectification and remedial works, redundancy removals, metering installation and upgrade works
  • Label and record site observations in a clear, structured format
  • Mark up and update drawings and schematics
  • Keep tidy, accurate records of progress
  • Communicate effectively with site teams and project management, and follow guidance and safety protocols

Systems you'll gain exposure to

  • Power distribution and secondary distribution
  • Emergency and standby lighting systems
  • Earthing and bonding
  • Surge and lightning protection
  • Metering
  • Fire and life-safety electrical systems
  • Data and communications rooms
  • Containment and small power

Requirements

  • Parliament Pass — a current pass, or eligible and willing to undergo vetting
  • Second-year apprentice or above (or equivalent hands-on experience)
  • Demonstrable experience working on commercial sites
  • ECS/CSCS card or equivalent
  • Asbestos Awareness and Working at Heights certificates
  • Good communication and basic IT literacy (e.g. email, marking up PDFs and drawings)
  • Awareness of working in sensitive environments such as live public or heritage buildings

Rate

£144 – £180 per shift (dependent on experience)

Pay: £144.00-£180.00 per day

Work Location: In person
