Vehicle Technician / Mechanic

Essex Prestige Autos Ltd – Harlow, Essex

Full-Time | Permanent | Competitive Salary (Experience Dependent)

Essex Prestige Autos Ltd is a well-established prestige and performance vehicle dealership with an in-house workshop. We are seeking a fully qualified Vehicle Technician / Mechanic to join our team. This role is suited to an experienced technician with strong diagnostic capability and a professional approach to workshop standards.

The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out a wide range of mechanical and diagnostic work to a high standard. This is a garage-based role and not bodyshop-only maintenance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Vehicle diagnostics using manufacturer and multi-brand diagnostic equipment
  • Servicing to manufacturer and industry standards
  • Mechanical repairs including brakes, suspension, steering, timing belts/chains, clutches, gearboxes (where applicable), and cooling systems
  • Tyre fitting, balancing, and wheel alignment
  • Pre-delivery inspections (PDIs) and vehicle health checks
  • Fault finding and structured diagnostic work
  • Accurate job reporting and written technical reports
  • Maintaining workshop cleanliness and professional standards
  • Full compliance with garage health and safety procedures

Essential Requirements:

  • Fully qualified Vehicle Technician / Mechanic
  • Relevant industry qualification such as IMI / AMI Level 3 or equivalent
  • Proven experience in a garage workshop environment
  • Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage workload efficiently
  • High attention to detail and pride in workmanship
  • Competent in job card completion, reporting, and written fault descriptions
  • Good understanding of health and safety regulations
  • Full UK driving licence

Desirable (but not essential):

  • Experience with prestige or performance vehicles
  • MOT Tester qualification or willingness to train
  • Dealership or high-standard independent garage experience
  • Familiarity with digital job management systems
