Fire Risk Assessor - Oxfordshire

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Fire Risk Assessor who will be responsible for conducting comprehensive fire risk assessments in accordance with current fire safety legislation, identifying hazards, evaluating risk and recommending practical and compliant control measures to ensure the safety of people, property and assets.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Carry out fire risk assessments in a range of premises, including residential, commercial, industrial and public buildings
  • Identify fire hazards, ignition sources, fuel sources, and people at risk
  • Evaluate existing fire safety measures such as means of escape, fire detection, alarm systems, emergency lighting, and fire-fighting equipment
  • Produce clear, accurate, and legally compliant fire risk assessment reports
  • Provide practical and proportionate recommendations to reduce fire risk
  • Advise clients on compliance with relevant fire safety legislation and best practice
  • Liaise with clients, property managers, duty holders, and enforcement authorities where required
  • Keep up to date with changes in fire safety legislation, standards, and guidance
  • Maintain accurate records and manage workload effectively to meet deadlines
  • Support audits, inspections, and follow-up visits as necessary

Experience and Skills

  • Minimum RQF level 3 (low/Med risk buildings)
  • Minimum 2-3 years' experience delivering fire risk assessments
  • Minimum Tier 2 registered with IFSM, IFE, or equivalent third-party body
  • A Good understanding of Fire Safety Act 2021, Building Safety Act 2022, and FSO 2005
  • Strong understanding of fire safety principles and risk assessment methodology
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to interpret legislation and apply it practically
  • High attention to detail and strong analytical skills
  • Confident working independently and managing multiple assessments
  • Professional, client-focused approach
