Reporting to the Health & Safety Manager, you’ll support the delivery of high standards across health, safety and environmental compliance, helping ensure our operations meet legislative, ISO and company requirements.
This is a hands-on role where you’ll work closely with site leaders, managers and colleagues to maintain and improve our Integrated Management Systems, carry out inspections and audits, support investigations, and promote a safe, responsible and compliant working environment.
What you’ll be doing.
- Supporting the HSE Manager to ensure site operations meet health, safety and environmental requirements in line with legislation and company standards.
- Maintaining and supporting the ISO Integrated Management Systems, including ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards.
- Carrying out internal and site-based HSE inspections and audits, helping identify hazards and ensure effective controls are in place.
- Preparing reports, data and analysis for senior and management teams, including accident statistics, trends and recommendations for improvement.
- Acting as a focal point for HSE matters, explaining policies, standards and directives to managers and employees.
- Supporting managers in delivering HSE targets, goals and action plans to drive continuous improvement.
- Producing and communicating safety alerts following incidents, supporting timely investigations and helping promote learning and prevention.
- Coordinating H&S training activity with internal and external providers through the training department.
- Supporting fire safety, emergency procedures, first aid and fire warden cover across site.
- Challenging unsafe behaviours and helping ensure actions are closed out by the relevant managers or owners in a timely way.
What you’ll need to be successful.
- NEBOSH General Certificate or NVQ Level 3 qualification.
- Experience of HSE management processes.
- Knowledge of internal auditing, HSE legislation and compliance.
- Strong communication skills, with the confidence to work with stakeholders at all levels.
- Excellent time management, prioritisation and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple activities.
- A proactive, assertive and self-sufficient approach, with the ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and the ability to use data to drive performance and improvement.
- Good IT skills, especially Excel.
- Experience working with multi-skilled, cross-functional teams.
- Knowledge of ISO 45001, experience dealing with regulatory bodies, project management or problem-solving experience would be advantageous.
