Ignite Your Potential. Shape the Future of Firefighter Training.
At Babcock, we’re working to create a safe and secure world, together. If you join us, you can play your part as a Breathing Apparatus Trainer at Beckton or Park Royal, near London
The role
As a Breathing Apparatus Trainer, you’ll play a vital role in delivering hands‑on, safety‑critical training that directly supports the operational readiness of London’s frontline fire crews. This is your opportunity to make a real impact — helping learners develop essential skills, supporting their confidence, and contributing to safer communities.
Day-to-day, you’ll have the following responsibilities:
Delivering core firefighter skills training, including Breathing Apparatus and Level 3 apprenticeship modules.
Assessing learner performance and providing constructive feedback to support progression.
Creating a safe, inclusive, and professional learning environment following Fit to Train, safety and welfare policies.
Managing learner welfare issues and escalating concerns via established safeguarding procedures.
Ensuring training resources and equipment are suitable and raising any issues with senior colleagues.
Please note that the successful candidate will be required to pass a targeted medical questionnaire and/or medical examination as a condition of employment for this role.
This is a full-time, onsite role working 37.5 hours per week based at Park Royal, near London. You will be working Monday to Friday, with occasional weekends.
Essential experience of the Breathing Apparatus Trainer:
Training or assessing qualification at Level 3 or above (can be obtained through Babcock).
Experience teaching, coaching, assessing or presenting to groups of adults (desirable).
Fire‑related background or operational experience (advantageous).
A passion for training, with an adaptable and engaging approach.
Qualifications for the Breathing Apparatus Trainer:
We value difference and don’t have a fixed idea when it comes to background or education, provided you can show the required level of experience and/or willingness to learn then we would like to hear from you.
