Location

Walsall, West Midlands

Hours

Full-time, 45 hours per week

Salary

A bit about us

Love Joes is a family-run food business based in Walsall, West Midlands. We make and supply chicken products to foodservice customers across the UK — over 3,000 tonnes a year and growing.

We’re about 190 people strong, and we’re proud of the fact that over a quarter of our team have been with us for 10 years or more. That doesn’t happen by accident. It happens because people feel part of something here — not just a number on a rota.

We’ve got brothers and sisters working here. Parents and children. Friends who started on the same week and are still here a decade later. That’s the kind of place this is.

What we stand for

Everything we do comes back to four values. They’re not posters on a wall — they’re how we recognise people, how we make decisions, and how we hold ourselves accountable.

Do What You Love — Bring energy and pride to your work. If you care about what you do, it shows.

Exceptional Service — Go the extra step. Whether it’s for a customer or a colleague, do it properly.

Continuous Improvement — Never stop learning. If something can be better, make it better.

Look After Each Other — We’re a team. We look out for each other, on the floor and off it.

The Role & Job Purpose

We're looking for a proactive and hands-on Hygiene PM Supervisor to lead our evening hygiene operation, ensuring our production areas are cleaned safely, thoroughly and to the highest food safety standards.

Reporting to the Hygiene PM Manager, you'll supervise the PM Hygiene team, ensuring cleaning schedules are completed on time, compliance standards are maintained, and the factory is ready for production each day.

This is a key leadership role where you'll balance people management, food safety and operational efficiency, while driving high standards and continuous improvement across the hygiene function.

What you’ll be doing

  • Supervise, motivate and support the PM Hygiene team throughout each shift.
  • Plan and coordinate daily cleaning activities to ensure all schedules are completed.
  • Ensure hygiene standards consistently meet company, customer and regulatory requirements.
  • Carry out hygiene inspections, verification checks and complete all required documentation.
  • Monitor food safety, hygiene and cleaning standards, taking corrective action where necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with COSHH, Health & Safety legislation and safe systems of work.
  • Investigate and resolve hygiene or operational issues quickly and effectively.
  • Support internal and external audits by maintaining accurate hygiene records.
  • Train, coach and develop hygiene operatives to achieve high performance.
  • Work closely with Production, Engineering and Quality teams to ensure equipment is cleaned, released and ready for production.
  • Identify opportunities to improve cleaning processes, efficiency and team performance.
  • Lead by example, promoting a positive, safe and accountable working culture.

What we’re looking for

We're looking for someone who leads by example, takes pride in maintaining exceptional hygiene standards, and enjoys developing people. You'll be organised, proactive and comfortable working in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment.

You'll ideally have:

  • Previous experience supervising a hygiene or cleaning team within a food manufacturing or similarly regulated environment.
  • A good understanding of food hygiene, food safety and contamination control.
  • Knowledge of COSHH and the safe handling of cleaning chemicals.
  • Strong planning and organisational skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple cleaning activities and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills and the confidence to motivate, coach and support a team.
  • Good attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining the highest hygiene standards.
  • Basic IT skills to complete hygiene records, audits and reporting.
  • Experience supporting internal or external audits would be advantageous.
  • Food Hygiene, Health & Safety or Supervisory qualifications are desirable but not essential.
  • A flexible approach and willingness to work in a wet environment during PM operations.

Above all, we're looking for someone who shares our values, takes ownership of their work and wants to help create a safe, clean and efficient manufacturing environment.

It’d be a bonus if you’ve got

  • A Food Hygiene qualification.
  • Health & Safety or COSHH training.
  • Supervisory or Team Leader training.
  • Experience supporting BRCGS, customer or third-party audits.
  • Experience working with continuous improvement initiatives

Above all, we're looking for someone who shares our values, takes ownership of their work and wants to help create a safe, clean and efficient manufacturing environment.

What you’ll get

We believe in looking after the people who look after the business. Here’s what comes with the role:

  • £16.33 per hour
  • 28 days holiday including bank holidays
  • Staff discount at the Love Joes Factory Shop
  • Access to Reward Gateway — discounts, wellbeing tools, and more
  • Employee of the Month recognition programme
  • Free on-site parking
  • Company events such as our Summer BBQ and Big Night Out
  • A team that actually looks out for each other — ask anyone who works here
