The Opportunity

Join our NaSA Team at the heart of Tilbury Douglas’ Defence & Security sector, supporting high-profile HMG projects that make a real impact. You’ll play a key role in enabling our Business Units to successfully secure and deliver critical work, providing specialist sector support from bid stage through to project completion.

A vital part of this role is ensuring our people and supply chain partners achieve and maintain the required security clearances, helping to safeguard sensitive projects and maintain the highest standards of compliance. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to nationally significant programmes within a fast-paced and collaborative environment.

What you will be doing

Vetting Case Management

  • Process and manage security clearance applications (e.g., BPSS, CTC, SC, DV) in line with UK Government and Government department standards.
  • Liaise with applicants to ensure all required forms and supporting documents are completed and submitted accurately.
  • Track applications through to completion, escalating delays or issues where necessary.

Compliance & Policy

  • Ensure all vetting activities comply with Cabinet Office, Government department, and company security policies.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of national security vetting requirements.
  • Monitor and report on clearance status, renewals, and aftercare requirements.

Administration & Record Keeping

  • Maintain accurate and confidential vetting records within secure systems.
  • Support periodic reviews, aftercare, and renewals of clearances.
  • Generate regular reports on vetting progress, risks, and compliance status.
  • Maintain time allocation records for costing purposes
  • Provide general administrative support

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Act as the point of contact between applicants, hiring managers, HR, security teams, and government vetting authorities (e.g., UKSV etc).
  • Provide guidance to managers and applicants on the vetting process and requirements.
  • Support audits and inspections related to security vetting.

What we will need from you

Essential – Must be a UK sole National

Essential – Must be able and willing to attain UKSV SC vetting (UK resident for the last 5 years). This is a thorough but confidential (and independent of Tilbury Douglas) process that investigates many personal aspects of the applicant’s life.   • Ability to work as part of a small team and individually, liaising directly with TD staff across the country and our supply chain
  • Ability to attend and be based from a TD office, preferably T3 Birmingham, or hybrid working to be agreed.
  • Integrity and ability to process confidential information to established protocols
  • Good time management skills
  • Organised and methodical with attention to detail
  • Ability to work to fixed deadlines
  • A strong work ethic
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Willing to travel if needed – full UK driving licence, though not a key part of the role initially
  • Academic qualifications, including good maths/English GCSE or A-Levels.
  • Keen to progress within the team and Tilbury Douglas
  • Knowledge of UK defence vetting and classifications (desirable
  • IT skills including Microsoft Teams, Word, Excel, and SharePoint;
  • Experience of working in the construction industry and understanding of procurement and on-site delivery
