Full job description

Delivery Driver – Newry

Salary: £28,300 + overtime
Hours: 40 per week, early starts from 2am, occasional weekends

Gentech is partnering with a client in Newry expanding their delivery team. This role suits safety conscious, customer focused drivers legally certified to drive in Ireland.

Key Duties:

  • Responsible for the timely delivery of chilled short shelf-life products (e.g., sandwiches, platters, wraps) to customers in Newry and within Northern Ireland.
  • Perform daily inspections of the delivery vehicle before and after completing the route. Report any maintenance, repair issues, or part replacements, including tyres, to the supervisor.
  • Load products at the depot/manufacturing facility and unload them at customer locations, ensuring all products are delivered in optimal condition.
  • Maintain responsibility for the care and maintenance of the company delivery van.
  • Keep accurate delivery logs and complete all required paperwork for each route.
  • Adhere to Health & Safety regulations while in the warehouse, on the road, and at customers' premises, and ensure fitness to drive at all times.
  • Delivery rounds will be allocated daily, and adherence to scheduled times is essential.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience as a delivery driver is essential; food industry experience is preferred.
  • A good understanding of the Newry area is required.
  • A valid driving licence with no more than three points and the entitlement to drive up to a 3.5 tonne vehicle.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently while following company protocols.

Key Relationships

  • Work closely with the Transport Supervisor to ensure accurate and timely deliveries.
  • Communicate with warehouse staff and customers to ensure smooth and efficient delivery operations.
