Full job description
Freelance SEO Manager – Online Pharmacy / Healthcare
We are a growing UK online pharmacy looking for an experienced, hands-on Freelance SEO Manager to help drive organic search performance and growth.
You will work closely with our internal team across technical, content and commercial SEO, identifying opportunities, prioritising activity and driving implementation.
This is a hands-on role. We are looking for someone who can combine strong SEO expertise with a commercial understanding of customer acquisition and who is comfortable both developing strategy and implementing it.
The Role
Responsibilities will include:
- Taking ownership of SEO activity and helping develop a prioritised SEO roadmap
- Identifying opportunities to increase organic visibility, traffic, customers and revenue
- Conducting keyword, competitor and search-intent research
- Optimising existing commercial and informational content
- Identifying new organic search and content opportunities
- Developing SEO content briefs and working with internal teams on implementation
- Improving site architecture and internal linking
- Conducting technical SEO analysis and identifying and prioritising improvements
- Working with developers to implement and validate technical SEO changes
- Monitoring crawling, indexing, site performance and overall technical SEO health
- Improving on-page SEO and structured data
- Identifying appropriate authority and link-building opportunities
- Monitoring organic search performance and identifying areas for improvement
- Using Google Search Console, GA4 and specialist SEO tools to analyse performance and opportunities
- Keeping up to date with developments across Google Search, AI-powered search and the wider organic search landscape
- Providing clear reporting on performance, activity and priorities
About You
We are particularly interested in candidates with SEO experience within healthcare, online pharmacy, telehealth or another regulated sector.
You should have:
- 4+ years of hands-on SEO experience
- A demonstrable track record of delivering organic growth
- Strong technical SEO knowledge
- Strong on-page, content and keyword strategy experience
- Excellent working knowledge of Google Search Console and GA4
- Experience with tools such as Ahrefs, Semrush, Screaming Frog or similar
- Experience working with developers on technical SEO implementation
- An understanding of SEO considerations for healthcare and YMYL content
- A commercially focused approach to SEO, with an understanding of the importance of customers, conversions and revenue alongside rankings and traffic
- The ability to work independently, identify opportunities and drive implementation
Highly Desirable
- Direct SEO experience within online pharmacy
- Telehealth or digital healthcare experience
- Experience working with medically or clinically reviewed content
- Experience with transactional or e-commerce websites
- Digital PR and link acquisition experience
- An understanding of conversion optimisation
- Experience adapting SEO strategies as search evolves through AI Overviews and other AI-powered search experiences
The Engagement
- Freelance / self-employed
- Part-time
- Approximately 12–16 hours per week
- Remote
- Initial 3-month engagement, with the potential for an ongoing relationship
Candidates do not necessarily need to reside in the UK, but strong experience of the UK search market and availability during UK business hours is required.
We are looking to work directly with an experienced individual who will personally undertake the work. This is not an agency engagement.
How to Apply
Alongside your CV, please provide 2–3 examples of websites where you have personally been responsible for SEO, ideally within healthcare, pharmacy, telehealth, e-commerce or another regulated sector.
For each example, please briefly outline:
- The business or website and your role
- What you personally implemented
- The results achieved
- Organic traffic growth
- Organic customer, conversion or revenue growth, where available
- The timeframe involved
Please also provide your current weekly availability and freelance hourly/day rate.
We are particularly interested in candidates who can demonstrate how their SEO work has contributed to commercial growth, rather than rankings or traffic alone.
Pay: £40.00-£60.00 per hour
Expected hours: 12.0 – 16.0 per week
Work Location: Remote
