Full job description

We are a friendly training GP practice covering across two sites. Our main surgery is in the lovely town of Whitchurch and a branch site in a beautiful rural setting based in the picturesque village of St Mary Bourne with a stunning lakeview.

We currently have a vacancy for a full time position of 35 hours to add to our brilliant reception team.

We are looking for an efficient, dynamic and friendly receptionist/administrator to continue to provide reception services to our patients and visitors to our practice. You will direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional either in person or via the telephone. You will also provide administrative support to the practice team where necessary.

You will have experience in administration or working with the public on reception with exceptional I.T. skills and an eye for detail. Ideally in a GP or healthcare setting but not essential as training will be given. You must have excellent communication skills and be committed to great customer service with a willingness to engage in a professional yet sympathetic, compassionate and polite manner.

You must be able to work on varied days, Monday and Fridays are essential and be ready to start at 8am and/or finish at 18.30 and assist with holiday/sickness cover.

Main Duties:

  • Ensure an effective and efficient reception service is provided to patients and all other visitors to the practice.
  • Deal with all general enquiries, explain procedures and make new and follow-up appointments and contact patients if their appointment changes.
  • Open and scan post and ensure it is electronically distributed correctly.
  • Book ambulances and transport as required.
  • Ensure that all new patients are registered onto the clinical system promptly and accurately.
  • Explain practice arrangements and formal requirements to new and temporary patients and ensure procedures are followed.
  • Action daily, repeat prescription requests, distributing medication and take payments.
  • Action daily, patient emails, requests & queries via our website and tasks received from GP’s and other practice staff.
