PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

The BBC Youth Audiences team is seeking a YouTube Entertainment Editor to lead and grow a new entertainment proposition for 16-34-year-olds. Reporting to the Executive Producer, Digital Innovation, Gaming & Creator Content, you will shape editorial strategy, oversee publishing and develop digital-first formats. Working with internal teams and independent producers, you'll create engaging, culturally relevant content that resonates with younger audiences while maintaining the BBC’s trusted editorial standards, values and commitment to integrity.

WHY JOIN THE TEAM

This is a great opportunity to join a creative team shaping how the BBC connects with young audiences through entertaining content online.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:

  • Lead the editorial strategy, publishing plan and overall creative direction for the entertainment YouTube channel.
  • Manage a publishing team delivering long-form and vertical video content, ensuring a consistent tone, look and audience experience.
  • Shape content and commissioning decisions using a deep understanding of 16-34 audiences, their interests and platform behaviours.
  • Collaborate with BBC teams and independent producers to develop and deliver digital-first entertainment formats.
  • Identify emerging trends, talent and creator opportunities that resonate with younger audiences.
  • Use audience insights and YouTube analytics to optimise content performance, scheduling and channel growth.
  • Act as the editorial lead for the channel, ensuring compliance, securing approvals and championing younger audiences internally and externally.

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

  • Significant experience leading digital-first entertainment content, with responsibility for editorial strategy, publishing and audience growth.
  • Proven experience creating, commissioning, publishing or managing content for 16+ audiences, with a strong understanding of 16-34 audience behaviours and interests.
  • Deep knowledge of entertainment, creator and youth culture, combined with demonstrable expertise in YouTube publishing, optimisation and channel growth.
  • Experience commissioning or managing content with independent production companies, alongside a strong understanding of rights, compliance and legal frameworks.
  • Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills, with a passion for delivering distinctive, culturally relevant content that reflects BBC values.

DESIRED BUT NOT REQUIRED:

  • Experience working directly with digital creators, influencers or creator-led formats.
  • Experience launching, growing or managing a YouTube channel aimed at young adult audiences.
  • Experience working across entertainment, factual entertainment, reality, comedy or creator-led content.

If you can bring some of these skills and experience, along with transferable strengths, we’d love to hear from you and encourage you to apply.
