Full job description

Main purpose of job:

Assist with the general maintenance and upkeep of the marina grounds and buildings to ensure that they are maintained in a tidy, presentable and safe manner at all times; carrying out all work in line with Health and Safety requirements and regulations.

Main duties and responsibilities

Maintain the grounds including pruning, grass cutting, strimming, hedge cutting, planting, digging, weeding and general gardening duties - some heavy lifting involved

Lawn maintenance and cultivation

General horticultural duties using hand tools and basic light machinery and plant

Safe use of manual and tractor mowers, carrying out safety and maintenance checks

Assist in the collection and disposal of refuse ensuring the grounds are free of litter

Carry out gritting, salt spreading and snow clearing as necessary

Undertake general maintenance of site premises, fixtures and fittings, including emptying of waste and ash bins, changing light fittings up to 12v

Work over water including maintenance of jetty timbers and mesh replacement program

Carry out basic maintenance of equipment, reporting any defects or problems to the Marina Manager

Ensure all equipment and machinery is secure and safe for use, carry out weekly safety reports

Undertake quay duties including dispensing fuel and operation of the pump out machine.

Ensure adequate stock of tools, equipment and materials as necessary for the upkeep of the site and report any requirements to the Manager

Be aware of and adhere to applicable rules, regulations, legislation and procedures such as Health and Safety and COSHH legislation

Undertake other duties as required

Education and Qualifications

GCSE or equivalent qualifications

Must be willing to attend training on the use of Company equipment relevant to the role

Experience

Previous maintenance experience essential

Previous experience of ground maintenance is desirable

Knowledge of electrical and plumbing practices would be beneficial.

Skills
Must possess a full clean UK driving licence

Must be physically fit as the role requires lifting of heavy items and physical labour throughout the day.

Must enjoy working outdoors in all weathers.

Must have a flexible approach to working arrangements and an ability to align working hours with customer demand and workload.

You must be able to work under your own initiative and be self motivated. Prioritisation of tasks is essential.

Problem solver with attention to detail.

Positive, friendly attitude and good communication skills.

Own transport is essential due to the location

Job Types: Part-time, Temporary
Contract length: 6 months

Pay: From £13.00 per hour

Expected hours: 15 – 22.5 per week
