Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Groundsman to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing the appearance and functionality of outdoor spaces, ensuring they are safe, attractive, and well-kept. This role offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment, applying specialised horticultural and landscaping skills to a variety of projects. The position is paid and suitable for individuals with a passion for gardening, construction, and outdoor maintenance.
Duties
- Carry out landscape maintenance tasks including mowing, pruning, planting, and fertilising to uphold high standards of appearance.
- Operate mechanical equipment such as excavators and power tools safely and efficiently.
- Use hand tools for tasks like edging, trimming, aerating, and planting.
- Maintain irrigation systems to ensure proper water distribution across landscaped areas.
- Assist with construction-related activities such as installing features or preparing ground for new developments.
- Perform routine maintenance on equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety.
- Support team members with specialised gardening tasks involving horticulture principles.
- Ensure all outdoor areas are clean, safe, and aesthetically pleasing at all times.
Skills
- Proven experience in landscape maintenance or gardening is highly desirable.
- Mechanical knowledge relevant to operating machinery such as excavators and power tools.
- Proficiency in the use of hand tools for various gardening and construction tasks.
- Ability to undertake general maintenance tasks efficiently.
- Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
- Physical fitness to perform manual labour outdoors in various weather conditions.
