The Job Role Details:

A practical no non-sense approach for a hands-on role, where the candidate will assist in supervising the growing aspects of the business including a variety of responsibilities cultivating, co-ordinating planting, harvesting with temporary casual staff on a day to day basis on the field/s.

With the ability to utilise data available from recording systems to review, evaluate to adjust working practise planning, operating fertigation, and the operational aspects of irrigation machinery and any other production equipment used, to maintain efficiencies to reduce labour cost and improve efficiencies where needed.

Responsibilities:

- Manage daily field farm operations and ensuring smooth workflow and production/quality targets have been met ( with the physical presence on the field/s).

- Collaborate with team members to develop and implement operational strategies and procedures involved in people management.

- Ensure the farm machinery is being maintained and used properly.

-Liaises with other managers to plan overall production activity and daily manufacturing activity setting quality standards and timescales estimates and costs.

- Ensure Health and Safety adherence with farm operations

- Monitor and analyse operational processes to identify areas for improvement and efficiency

-Assist in planning of planting, cultivation, propagation, prep, polytunnel, irrigation hydraulic installations and new projects introduced to the farm.

- Ensuring farm records are maintained are correct.

- Train and supervise staff members to ensure they adhere to company policies

and procedures.
- Maintain accurate records of operations, including inventory, expenses,

and employee performance

- Monitor production and production cost and undertakes or arranges for the preparation of reports and records.

- Assist in budget planning and cost control measures
- Resolve customer complaints or issues in a timely and satisfactory manner
- Stay updated on industry trends and best practices to enhance operational effectiveness

Skills:

- Proven experience in a supervisory or managerial role within operations including quality control, and soft fruit field operations or similar perishable produce operations.

- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide a team towards achieving goals.

- Excellent team player.

- Exceptional problem-solving abilities with a focus on finding practical solutions

- Ability to work on own initiative.

- Proficient in using computer software and systems for data analysis and reporting

- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively interact with team members, clients, and stakeholders

-Good understanding of the biodiversity, environmental factors affecting the sustainability of farm practises.

Qualifications and Experience:

-*Good level of understanding of verbal and written Russian preferred.*

· Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in the soft fruit industry or in similar perishable produce operations.

· BASIS and FACTS

· Spray qualifications: PA1, PA 2A, PA3B, PA4, PA 6A

(advantageous but not essential for all)

· Telehandler, and excavator certification

· First Aid qualification

· Clean driving licence Class B & experience operating a farm machinery

Pay: £38,000.00-£50,000.00 per year
