Full job description

We are looking for a Grounds Maintenance Worker to join our team to:

Carry out arboriculture work from the ground, including; felling of small trees, crown lifting and clearance of wind blown or failed trees/limbs as required as part of a response team and general maintenance.

Carry out work on encroaching grass and vegetation from pathways and roads.

Carry out; grass cutting, strimming and hedge cutting as and where instructed or according to the schedules and to the standards required

To undertake pre-start checks on vans, plant and other vehicles up to and including 3.5 tonne (B licence) classification as required in accordance with manufacturer’s recommendations as stated within the operations manuals and to include the completion of daily defect sheets

Responsibility for keeping machinery and equipment in good working condition and expediting rectification of faults.

Ensure health and safety, safe systems of work, standards, processes and housekeeping are adhered to through regular checking and cleaning of; vehicles, equipment/machinery and working sites.

In order do deliver services effectively, a degree of flexibility is needed and the post holder may be required to perform work not specifically referred to above. Such duties, however, should not normally exceed those expected of an employee at that grade.

The ideal candidate should have a good understanding of plant care and maintenance. The Grounds Maintenance Worker should also be able to work independently and be comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.

Essential criteria

Basic literacy and numeracy to understand work instructions, safety detail, and quantity specification. Ability to interpret work instruction and deliver/complete tasks to the appropriate standards. Previous grounds maintenance experience. Hold a full manual driving licence (B licence)

NPTC certification in Ground saw operation.

Desirable

NPTC certification in Powered pole saw, Brush Cutter, Wood chipper.

Experience of herbicide spraying, with PA1 & PA6 certification.

Hrbicide spraying PA2

Experience with Ride-on Plant

CSCS cardholder.

Pay: £14.00-£16.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 40.0 per week
