Estate Assistant Required Thurgarton Priory – Near Southwell, Nottinghamshire

Thurgarton Priory is seeking a practical, reliable and enthusiastic Estate Assistant to help care for and maintain our historic estate near Southwell. This is a varied hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys working both indoors and outdoors, takes pride in maintaining high standards, and is confident turning their hand to a wide range of practical tasks. Experience not necessarily required but preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Basic assistance with estate infrastructure
  • General estate and grounds duties such as grass cutting, hedge trimming, pruning and weeding. Assisting the Head Gardener where required with propagation, seed sewing, pricking out and potting on.
  • Supporting estate events and occasional setup duties
  • Ensuring tools, equipment and work areas are kept clean and safe

The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Be hardworking, dependable and self-motivated
  • Be comfortable working both independently and as part of a small team
  • Have a positive and flexible attitude
  • Hold a full UK driving licence
  • Experience operating light machinery and tools would be an advantage; chainsaw license and relevant horticultural qualifications would be desirable but not essential.
