Job Overview:
This company operates a 12-acre nursery where they grow and maintain over one million plants, shrubs, and trees. As a Horticulture Manager, you will oversee all aspects of garden and landscape maintenance, focusing on growing, groundskeeping, and irrigation. You will play a vital role in maintaining the beauty and health of outdoor spaces.

This role would suit someone that is motivated and a passionate person, who is experienced in working on a nursery or in a garden centre, managing a team, organised, productive with their time and will help to continue the businesses growth and continued success on their exciting journey, whilst developing the production nursery & retail cash and carry.

Responsibilities:
- Manage day-to-day operations of horticultural projects.
- Managing production for retail, landscaping and cash and carry customers including producing production plans
- Ensure proper landscape maintenance and groundskeeping practices.
- Leading the team to ensure that individuals possess a high level of product knowledge and that they perform in an efficient and productive manner in line with company policies and procedures
- Checking stock regularly to ensure optimum quality with great attention to detail and implementing pest and disease control and appropriate fertiliser schedules when necessary
- Overseeing incoming stock and outgoing orders to ensure we maintain our high level of quality and service

- Controlling and maintaining an irrigation system and the general maintenance on the nursery

- Manage staff rotas, working hours, absence and holiday requests.

- Ability to drive sales and to meet set budgets, controlling spends and wastage

- Liaising with customers regularly to discuss production plans, orders, and contract grows

Requirements:
- Proven experience in garden management and landscape maintenance (ideally 3 years but not essential).
- Proficiency in using power tools and hand tools for horticultural tasks.
- Work well on your own as well as managing a small but growing team with the ability to motivate and delegate tasks effcuently (currently 6 members of staff)
- Familiarity with irrigation systems to support plant health.

-A hands-on approach where you set a great example for the team, exhibiting confidence and enthusiasm

- Liaising with customers regularly to discuss production plans, orders, and contract grows as well as chasing new business.

Desirable but not essential:

  • RHS Level 3 Diploma in Horticulture
  • FLT licence
  • PA1 and PA6 spraying licenses

Salary/hours:

  • £35,000 - £45,000K per year
  • Working Monday to Friday 7:00am – 4:00pm with extra hours when required by the business
  • Permanent, full-time position
