We support clients across the healthcare, defence, leisure, heritage, commercial and education sectors, delivering essential building services. As part of the Axis CLC group, backed by over 110 years of combined experience across the organisation, we offer responsive repairs, planned maintenance, compliance, decarbonisation and refurbishment solutions nationwide.

This role supports ongoing maintenance contracts across occupied and void properties, carrying out a wide range of repairs and improvement works. The company prides itself on delivering excellent customer service, high-quality finishes and safe working practices at all times.

The Role

We’re looking for a skilled and reliable Multi-Trade Operative to join the team, with strong experience across carpentry, plumbing, plastering and decorating. You’ll play an important role delivering responsive repairs, planned maintenance and refurbishment works across both private and commercial premises.

This is a hands-on role requiring excellent practical skills, attention to detail and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. You’ll be working in occupied properties regularly, so professionalism, communication and customer care are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Undertake carpentry and joinery works including fitting doors, kitchen installations and general carpentry repairs
  • Complete plumbing repairs and installations including bathroom suite fitting and general plumbing maintenance
  • Carry out plastering works including whole room plastering, patch repairs and ceiling repairs
  • Undertake decorating works including painting walls, ceilings and woodwork to a high standard
  • Diagnose faults and complete effective, long-lasting repairs
  • Ensure all works are completed safely, professionally and within agreed deadlines
  • Maintain high standards of workmanship with a clean and tidy finish
  • Work independently or alongside other operatives and contractors when required
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with clients, residents and site teams
  • Follow all Health & Safety procedures, building regulations and company policies at all times
  • Maintain company equipment, tools and materials responsibly
  • Travel between job locations, with flexibility for occasional overnight stays where required

About You

You’re a talented and motivated multi-skilled tradesperson with experience across several disciplines. You take pride in your work, have excellent problem-solving skills and always aim to deliver a high standard of customer service.

You’ll be confident working in occupied properties, able to manage your workload effectively and committed to ensuring customers are satisfied with the completed works.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Multi-Trade Operative within property maintenance, repairs or refurbishment
  • Strong skills in carpentry, plumbing, plastering and decorating
  • Knowledge of onsite working practices and Health & Safety regulations
  • Understanding of current building regulations and safe working procedures
  • NVQ or City & Guilds qualification in a relevant trade preferred
  • CSCS card or willingness to obtain one
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent practical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to complete work to deadlines and maintain high standards
  • Good communication and customer service skills
  • Reliable, professional and motivated attitude
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Own tools and equipment relevant to the role

Working Hours

  • Contracted hours: 40 hours per week
  • Flexibility is required to meet operational demands and deadlines
  • Overtime may be required when necessary
  • Travel between sites is required, with some overnight stays depending on contract location

To obtain a CSCS card, you must:

  • Pass the CITB Health, Safety and Environment Test
  • Demonstrate occupational competence through relevant qualifications
  • If currently unqualified, you may be eligible to complete the On-site Assessment and Training (OSAT) or Experienced Worker Practical Assessment (EWPA) route to gain qualification status

Benefits
