Café Manager Job Description

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Café Manager to play a key role in our Coffee Shop in the beautiful sea-side town of Nairn. We are passionate about quality coffee, our own artisan ice cream and fresh food. The right candidate will play a crucial role in developing the team and creating an inviting atmosphere for both customers and employees and keep James’s cafe as a favourite place to visit.

Responsibilities

• Manage all aspects of café operations, including staffing, inventory control, and customer service.
• You will lead by example by being hands on in everything you do
• You’ll be expected to work and lead your team during our busiest times as well as our quietest times
• Ensure the café is clean, organised, and compliant with health and safety regulations.
• Brew and serve high-quality espresso-based drinks and other beverages according to our recipes and customer preferences.
• You will be playing a key part in creating an environment where everyone feels motivated, supported and proud to be part of the James’s team
• Serve premium ice cream, assist with creating bubble waffles, milkshakes, and other treats with attention to detail and creativity.
• Ordering products from different suppliers, inventory monitoring for coffee, ice cream supplies, and general café products.
• Accurately process payments through the register and handle cash or card transactions with attention to detail.
• Help highlight new menu items and encourage customers to try seasonal offerings
• A Store Manager who can take initiative and is not afraid to speak up.
• Handle customer inquiries and complaints promptly, maintaining high levels of satisfaction.

Qualifications

• · Have 1+ years’ managerial experience within a coffee shop or similar operation and a track record of building and retaining an amazing team
• A love for coffee and ice cream with an appreciation for quality and craftsmanship.
• Strong communication skills and a friendly, customer-first attitude.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, especially during busy times.
• Good math skills for handling cash payments and giving change.
• Flexibility to work weekends, and holidays.
• Team player with a positive, can-do attitude.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and supervise a diverse team.
• Knowledge of food safety standards and best practices in cafe management.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

Job Type: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 12 months

Pay: £24,000.00-£28,000.00 per year
