Role Overview

The Event Fundraiser will play a vital role in delivering and building impactful events and generating fundraising income.

This role combines hands-on event coordination with volunteer management, supporting the charity’s fundraising strategy and building and maintaining connections with supporters, partners, and communities.

The postholder will contribute to the planning and execution of UK events, Two Wheels-hosted fundraising activities, and supporter-led initiatives — ensuring each event maximises revenue generated, is professionally delivered and aligned with the charity’s mission.

Key Responsibilities

1. UK Events (Fundraising, Engagement & Delivery)

  • Live Event Execution: Attend approximately 10 UK fundraising events per year (including The Bike Shed Moto Show, Adventure Bike Rider Festival, and GP of Champions at the British MotoGP, Silverstone).
  • Fundraising Management: Source competition prizes and auction donations from the world of motorcycling. Oversee the bidding processes and manage post-event bidder follow-up.
  • Logistics & Compliance: Organise, book, and replenish event equipment, branded materials, and merchandise. Ensure all health & safety requirements and event documentation are completed, allocate passes, and secure event spaces.
  • Stakeholder management: Build strong, positive relationships with partners, suppliers, and key stakeholders.
  • Event Readiness: Ensure all necessary equipment, materials, and event infrastructure are prepared well in advance.
  • On-Site Operations: Coordinate and manage volunteers on-site, supporting smooth operations and high-quality delivery. Identify and support fundraising opportunities like auctions and raffles. Ensure accurate handling and banking of cash and payments.
  • Growth & Marketing: Partner with the communications team to promote events. Identify new UK events to attend or partner with to increase visibility and supporter engagement. Use events to recruit new volunteers and grow the newsletter subscriber base.

2. Volunteer Management

  • Communication & Engagement: Use our existing volunteers to run event activities and strengthen the charity’s presence. Coordinate all volunteer activities, communicating key dates, expectations, and event needs at the start of the season.
  • Build volunteer network: Engage new volunteers to suit the growing needs of the organisation.
  • Logistics & Support: Manage volunteer rotas and distribute all briefing materials (passes, parking, travel, safety info, uniforms). Send timely post-event thank-you messages.
  • Community Building: Organise and deliver the annual Volunteer Gathering. Create. Work with the Media Manager to distribute a quarterly volunteer newsletter with updates, recognition, and recruitment incentives.
  • Data Management: Manage the volunteer database

3. General & Ad Hoc Responsibilities

  • Support independent fundraisers with their individual initiatives (e.g., marathon runs, fundraising rides).
  • Assist with additional tasks to support the wider charity team and grow fundraising within the UK.

Essential Experience & Skills:

  • Proven Event Experience: You must have hands-on experience planning, organising, and executing events.
  • Weekend Flexibility: A strong willingness and ability to travel and work at multiple weekend-long events over the summer and other events throughout the year is essential for this role.
  • A Passion for Motorcycles: You must have a strong desire to build or develop a career in the world of motorcycles. Knowledge of and contacts within the motorcycle community is highly preferred.
  • People & Volunteer Management: Experience coordinating, motivating, and scheduling volunteers or temporary event staff.
  • Organisation: Exceptional administrative and logistical skills with the ability to handle event equipment, documentation, and asset management.
