Freelance Engineering, Joinery and General Duties Assistants :

It's not an actual job... it's a range of freelance opportunities...

My partner and I share a workshop and employees... I have a furniture making company and my partner designs, builds and maintains wind turbines... so we're looking for a pool of people we can call on as and when we need them who are very competent, dynamic and flexible... the main requirement is for the engineering role in the Wright Wind company, but there is also quite a bit of joinery to do for the Urban Grain business and then there's just a bit of general farm maintenance (because we live and work on a farm so there are always jobs to do around the place)... we've defined the roles as best we can below:

• Wright Wind - Wind Turbine Engineering Technician

Purpose of Role:

To assist in the repairing and building of medium scale wind turbines. You will need to be able to work at height in the nacelles of the turbines as well as in the workshop machining parts and building up the machines

Experience, Qualifications, and Personal Specification:

Be a competent mechanic with a head for heights

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

To regularly inspect and service wind turbines around the UK (the main areas are Yorkshire and North Wales, but there is also some work in Scotland, Cornwall and Devon). Most turbines are on 24m towers, but some are on 36m towers

To machine component parts; re-engineer component parts; and assist in the build up turbines in the workshop with an acute attention to detail

• Urban Grain Workshop Technician

Purpose of Role:

To assist in the building of industrial style furniture using a variety of materials including reclaimed scaffolding boards, steel pipe, sheet metal, plywood, glass and many other materials. This isn’t strictly a role for a fully qualified joiner, but a competent DIYer, with common sense would be ideal as training will be provided

Experience, Qualifications, and Personal Specification:

Be a competent DIYer with a passion for attention to detail and perfection

Main Duties and Responsibilities :

To learn and develop all aspects of skills required on production

Assemble customer orders with an acute attention to detail

Some onsite installations are needed from time to time - these could be anywhere in the UK

Personal Spec of both of the above roles:

Essential -

Be polite, courteous and supportive to all team members and clients

Capable of working under pressure

Work proactively as a member of the production team

Maintain the cleanliness and tidiness of the workshop to ensure all staff continue to work in a safe and pleasant environment

Work in accordance with training and agreed policies, practices and procedures and to observe safe working, health and safety adherence practices at all times

Any other duties as reasonably requested, relative to the objectives of the post

Role Specific -

Be able to drive a large van .

Happy to work away from home

Have a flexible attitude to working arrangements

Self Employed

Pay: £7.50-£18.00 per hour

Expected hours: 1 – 60 per week
