EMERGENCY MEDICINE TRAINEE

Sessional / Off-Day Opportunities

Taylor Grey Private Urgent Care – Knightsbridge, London

About the Opportunity

We are seeking motivated Emergency Medicine trainees working in the London region who would like the opportunity to undertake flexible, well-supported sessional work at Taylor Grey – a high-end private urgent care clinic in Knightsbridge.

This is an excellent opportunity for EM trainees (ST1–ST6 or equivalent) to gain private-sector experience, earn additional income on rostered free days or off days, and work in a modern, consultant-supported environment with on-site diagnostics and a premium patient demographic.

We operate with a small, agile clinical team. The core day-to-day staffing currently consists of experienced Emergency Nurse Practitioners (ENPs), with visiting consultants (including Dr Nagi Barakat and Dr Dany Succar) available at specific times, further supported by a panel of physicians of a wide variety of specialties who are happy to provide on-call advice and accept onward referrals.

We are looking to add one Emergency Medicine trainee at a time on a rotating basis to provide on-site clinical presence for initial assessment, diagnostics, triage and safe onward referral.

Role Overview

The Emergency Medicine trainee will work as part of the on-site clinical team, taking responsibility for the initial assessment and management of patients presenting with urgent care needs (adults and children).

The role centres on high-quality clinical assessment, efficient use of on-site diagnostics (including blood tests, ECG, viral swabs, X-ray and other near-patient testing and on-site Ultrasound), accurate triage, and clear communication with the ENP team and the on-call physician panel for escalation or onward referral.

You will practise within established clinical governance frameworks and under the overall medical oversight of the clinic’s senior clinicians. Independent decision-making is expected within your level of training and the agreed scope of practice for the role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide initial clinical assessment of patients presenting with urgent care needs (adults and children).
  • Perform comprehensive history-taking and physical examination.
  • Request, interpret and act upon on-site investigations including X-rays, laboratory tests, ECGs and near-patient diagnostics.
  • Triage patients appropriately and formulate clear management plans.
  • Make timely and appropriate referrals to secondary care, specialist services or the clinic’s on-call physician panel.
  • Work collaboratively with the existing ENP team and visiting consultants to ensure safe, seamless patient care.
  • Recognise and appropriately manage the deteriorating or seriously unwell adult or child, escalating promptly.
  • Deliver evidence-based care in line with current clinical guidelines and best practice.
  • Maintain accurate, contemporaneous clinical documentation in accordance with GMC and professional standards.
  • Contribute to a high-quality patient experience consistent with a premium private healthcare environment.
  • Participate in local induction, clinical governance and any required continuing professional development activities.

What We’re Looking For

We are looking for Emergency Medicine trainees who are:

  • Currently in an Emergency Medicine training programme (ST1–ST6 or equivalent) and based in or around the London region.
  • Confident clinical decision-makers with sound judgement and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Comfortable working in a small, agile private clinic environment with a high degree of professional autonomy within defined governance.
  • Professional, articulate and presentable, with excellent communication skills suitable for a premium private patient demographic.
  • Proactive, adaptable and solutions-focused, able to work effectively with ENPs and senior physicians.
  • Motivated by the opportunity to gain private-sector experience and additional income on free days while maintaining high clinical standards.
  • Team players who require minimal day-to-day supervision once orientated, while knowing when and how to escalate.
  • We especially welcome enquiries from a team of 3 to 4 trainees who can form a collaborative group and work together to provide wraparound cover at the clinic over the course of the working week and eventually on weekends alongside their training commitments.

Essential Requirements

  • Full GMC registration with a licence to practise.
  • Current National Training Number (or equivalent) in Emergency Medicine, or recent completion of an EM training post with relevant experience.
  • Substantial experience of assessing and managing acute presentations in an Emergency Department, Urgent Care Centre or Minor Injuries Unit.
  • Confidence in requesting and interpreting X-rays, laboratory results, ECGs and other near-patient investigations.
  • Excellent clinical assessment and diagnostic skills.
  • Current knowledge of evidence-based practice and professional standards (GMC Good Medical Practice).
  • Valid medical indemnity covering private practice / sessional work (or willingness to arrange this).
  • Right to work in the UK.

Desirable

  • Previous experience in private or independent sector urgent care.
  • ALS / APLS / ATLS (or equivalent) current.
  • Interest in developing longer-term links with the clinic.
