About the Role

As the Assistant Gym Manager, you will be a bright and enthusiastic individual with good communication skills who strives to provide the best customer. You will play a key role in supporting the overall operations of our fitness facility and support the Gym Manager to achieve its goals. Your responsibilities will range from assisting with staff management and customer service to ensuring the cleanliness and functionality of the gym environment. Responsibilities

  • Customer Service:
  • Greet and engage with members, providing a welcoming and positive atmosphere.
  • Assist in resolving member inquiries, concerns, and feedback promptly and professionally.
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive community for gym members.
  • Staff Management:
  • Collaborate with the Gym Manager to supervise and motivate gym staff, including trainers, front desk personnel, and cleaning staff.
  • Help with recruitment, training, scheduling, and performance evaluations of staff members.
  • Ensure that all staff members adhere to gym policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Operational Excellence:
  • Contribute to the implementation of operational policies and procedures.
  • Assist in monitoring the maintenance and functionality of gym equipment, addressing any issues promptly.
  • Ensure gym cleanliness and organisation, including equipment sanitisation and facility upkeep.
  • Sales and Marketing Support:
  • Aid in promoting gym memberships, special programmes, and events.
  • Collaborate with the team to execute strategies for attracting new members and retaining existing ones using social media and outreach marketing.
  • Financial Oversight:
  • Help with tracking and managing gym expenses, inventory, and supplies.
  • Support the Gym Manager in achieving financial goals by assisting in budget management and revenue generation.
  • Fitness Programmes and Events:
  • Assist in planning, organising, and executing fitness classes, workshops, and events.
  • Collaborate with trainers to create engaging and effective fitness programmes for members.
  • Safety and Compliance:
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols, emergency procedures, and health regulations.
  • Help maintain accurate member records, waivers, and health information.

Qualifications

  • Reps Level 3 or equivalent gym instructor OR personal training qualification, group exercise qualification
  • First Aid Qualification – desired
  • Previous experience in the fitness industry or a similar role is preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with staff and members.
  • Leadership abilities and the capacity to motivate and manage a team.
  • Excellent organisational skills to manage tasks, schedules, and facility upkeep.
  • Proficiency in using software and systems for managing schedules, memberships, and reports.
