Clinical Research Fellow – Oncology
1.0 WTE
Fixed term – 12 months (depending on start date) until September 2027
We are delighted to offer a 12-month fixed-term Clinical Research Fellow opportunity within Oncology at the Bristol Haematology and Oncology Centre (BHOC).
This unique post provides an approximately 50:50 split between clinical practice and research/quality improvement activity, offering the successful candidate the opportunity to develop both their clinical and academic interests within a supportive and innovative oncology team. The post is available on a full-time or part-time basis (minimum 0.8 WTE). The tumour site and project focus will be agreed with the successful applicant and aligned to current research, service development and quality improvement priorities across the department. There is also flexibility to tailor the role to individual interests for the right candidate.
BHOC is a leading regional cancer centre with a strong track record in clinical research, service innovation and multidisciplinary working, making it an excellent environment in which to develop your skills and experience.

Clinical
The post holder will work within one or more oncology tumour site teams, contributing to the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred care. Clinical duties will comprise approximately 50% of the role and will primarily involve reviewing patients in outpatient clinics, including those receiving treatment and those in follow-up. The post holder will assess and manage patients under appropriate consultant supervision, including those undergoing systemic anti-cancer treatment and radiotherapy, and will contribute to the coordination of patient care across established clinical pathways.
The post holder will participate in new patient clinics where required, undertaking clinical assessments pathways and contributing to treatment planning. They will attend and actively contribute to multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings and other tumour site-specific meetings, supporting collaborative decision-making and ensuring safe, effective care planning. Depending on the tumour site(s), the role may also include day unit activity, including review of patients requiring urgent or unplanned assessment, as well as involvement in the care of inpatients under the relevant oncology teams.
