You’ll be responsible for helping to maintain the hotel to a high standard across a variety of areas, including guest bedrooms, public spaces, restaurants and bars, conference areas, the gym and outdoor areas. The role is focused on keeping the property safe, functional, well-presented and running smoothly.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Carrying out general repairs and responding to day-to-day maintenance issues.
• Completing basic plumbing work, including repairing taps, toilets, showers, leaks and blockages.
• Undertaking painting, decorating and general making-good work.
• Carrying out basic carpentry and repairs to fixtures, fittings and furniture.
• Completing minor electrical repairs where appropriate and within your level of competence.
• Undertaking tiling, grouting and silicone/sealant repairs.
• Carrying out planned preventative maintenance throughout bedrooms and communal areas.
• Identifying potential maintenance problems and addressing them before they develop into larger or more costly issues.
• Assisting with regular building, equipment and health and safety checks.
• Liaising with and assisting specialist contractors when work falls outside your own area of expertise.
• Supporting refurbishment, improvement and general maintenance projects around the hotel.

As much of the work will take place in areas used by guests, you’ll need to maintain a professional and approachable manner at all times. Good communication and consideration for guests are just as important as having good practical maintenance skills.

About You

We’re looking for someone with practical experience in maintenance, facilities, property management, construction or a related environment.

You should be:

• Confident carrying out general maintenance, repairs, decorating and basic plumbing.
• Comfortable diagnosing faults and finding practical solutions to maintenance problems.
• Someone who takes pride in completing work to a good standard and looks for a lasting solution rather than a quick temporary repair.
• Able to manage and prioritise your own workload effectively.
• Reliable, flexible and capable of working independently as well as alongside colleagues.
• Aware of the importance of following health and safety procedures.
• Professional and approachable when dealing with guests, contractors and other members of the team.

Previous experience in areas such as electrical work, carpentry, tiling or another skilled trade would be beneficial, but we don’t expect you to be an expert in every aspect of maintenance.

Most importantly, we’re looking for someone with solid practical ability, a positive attitude and a willingness to learn. Training and support will be provided to help you broaden your skills and develop your knowledge across other areas of hotel maintenance.

Pay: £13.00 per hour

Expected hours: 8.0 – 24.0 per week
